Marcelo Quiñonez’s debut E.P. “Cabin Fever” mixes his disparate influences, into a soul-exposing journey through life. Hints of gangster rap mix seamlessly into alt-country, dub reggae mixed with gritty southern rock, it’s all fair game in his new debut solo E.P. “Cabin Fever”

Biography

Born and raised in Los Angeles California, from a Nicaraguan father and a Canadian mother Marcelo fell in love with music for the first time listening to a variety of music. From the rhythm focused sounds of Salsa and Reggae to the soul bearing lyricism of Young and Dylan all were a part of his early musical indoctrination. Quionez started honing his skills over the years writing and performing mostly Latin music with his band Cuchata while living in Seattle. Cuchata toured up and down the West Coast and gigged regularly in Seattle, gaining good press and licensing numerous tracks for TV (Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Road Trip Nation among others) and films (most notably the IFC films feature Mercy). Experimentation on the last Cuchata album (which charted top ten in world & Latin categories for non commercial radio in the US and Canada) and other musical wanderings while writing TV and film music, led to new opportunities over the last three years.

Through this experimentation and a new batch of experiences Marcelo decided to embark on another musical path. To find a new sound that was more fully representative of his own personnel dialogue and making that musically and emotionally universal. The songs presented in Marcelos first solo E.P. are stripped down, and raw. Vulnerable and pure, leading the listener to focus on the song its self, and the sentiment and feelings behind it. This was the only goal for this new project, write honest songs and bare the soul for others to relate. With this new debut E.P. Marcelo has come full circle in his progression as a musician and found the courage to share the soul bearing truth that inspired him from the beginning.

Marcelo is based out of Burbank CA USA and Toronto, ON CANADA

Cabin Fever
By
Marcelo E. Quinonez

Let’s go out tonight, I want to see your pretty face lit by the streetlights
Let’s get drunk tonight, ending up face down will never feel so right
Let’s go out tonight and walk the streets, you never know who we might meet
Let’s get high tonight, forget about the loss and gain, forget about the fights
Let’s go out tonight, spend some time, you never know what we might find

chorus:
No I won’t trade in this time today, for another chance, sometime some other day.
This cabin fever, gotten too much to take, I can’t let this time, just slip away

Let’s go out tonight, find a bar with a jukebox and dance all night
Let’s get close tonight, and see, if we can ever feel complete
Let’s go out tonight, drive to the beach, feel the sand and watch the sea
Let’s try love tonight, fall deep and see if we land on our feet
Let’s go out tonight, spend some time, we never know what we might find

chorus:
No I won’t trade in this time today, for another chance , sometime some other day.
This cabin fever, gotten too much to take, I can’t let this time, just slip away

No Money

No Money
By: Marcelo E. Quinonez

(Verse 1)
I ain’t got no money,
But I got a lot to give
Got this old house baby
And the rest of this life to live
I give you my true love baby
And I’m willing to forgive
Ain’t got no job darling,
But I got a lot to give

(Chorus)
And I hope you see my plan
And I hope you try and understand
What it is for me to be your man, and come through, come through for you.

I could wait around about it, and I could scream and shout about it,
But I choose to do all I can for you, my love.

(Verse 2)
I ain’t got no money
But I don’t feel no shame
I got this old car, baby
And the honor left in my name
I give you my whole heart, baby
And I expect from you the same
My heart ain’t that fragile darling
But it ain’t up for any games

(Chorus)
And I hope you see my plan
And I hope you try and understand
What it is for me to be your man, and come through, come through for you.

I could wait around about it, and I could scream and shout about it,
Ain’t no way of getting round it, I won’t put anything above it,
Cause I choose to do all I can for you, my love.
