Marcia is the SingerUniverse "Best Vocalist Of The Month" WINNER for her song "Real Love"!!!

Fall, 2006

Now 20, Marcia is back in Canada and determined to pursue her music career. Yes, she did make the difficult decision to leave Jacksonville State University in Alabama, a place she called home for the past two years, but not without overwhelming support from her faculty and peers—some of her biggest fans! Although a dedicated member of the college tennis team and having achieved recognition on the President’s Honor List in both her freshman and sophomore year, Marcia felt the need to take a year off from life as a student/athlete in order to focus on her music.

Marcia’s unique talent has been prevalent from a very early age. At 13, only a few months after beginning classical piano and voice lessons, she wrote and recorded her first song, “Later Years.” Since then, Marcia has recorded many wonderful, original songs—mostly jazz-inspired—with a number of studio producers and engineers, and has been the star attraction of countless shows and competitions. In the spring of 2006, Marcia won 1st place at the JSU Star, Jacksonville State University’s annual talent show.

Back in university, in addition to being a member of a diverse tennis team, Marcia was given the privilege to live at the International House on campus, where she was introduced to an exciting world of new cultures and languages—a world she lets you experience through her music. Also, opportunities to travel to France, Spain, Italy, Brazil, and other Latin countries put her in contact with many new genres of music. As a result, Marcia now composes in four languages: English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Although she is a natural jazz musician, this summer Marcia decided to explore her cultural roots and challenged herself to learn the secrets of Latin music. After less than five months, she finished recording My Latin Roots, her much awaited debut album. The project came together with the help of a great team of international musicians, including Colombian musician and co-producer Luis Ariel Rey. Marcia is already working on her next jazzy/pop recording, This Is My Soul Talking, due for release this summer 2007.

Marcia Barnes’ artistic palette is immensely rich. She is a singer, a songwriter, a piano player, and now a producer of her latest, HOT release, My Latin Roots. Today, this rising songstress already has a large, national and international fan base, and the numbers are growing…

Lyrics

Loverboy

Written By: Marcia & Susana Barnes

Verse 1:
I've got a really good feeling about you and me
I got a really good feeling late last night
All my friends keep telling me we're meant to be
And you're all I see so they must be right

Ooh...Summer time is over
Ooh...But I hope we've just begun this love

Verse 2:
I've got a really good feeling about you and me
I got a really good feeling when I opened my eyes
Oh no this is not a dream, I just heard your voice on my voice machine
You wanna take me for ice cream

Ooh...Whoever you are
Ooh...Whatever you do, I've got room for you

Chorus:
Hey loverboy...all we gotta do is practice good loving
Hey loverboy...together we can find the reason for living (Repeat)

Verse 3:
I've got a really good feeling about you and me
I've got a really good feeling I'm your fantasy
All the signs are telling me we're going the right direction
Read the lines, read me in between

Ooh...Summer time is over
Ooh...But I hope we've just begun this love

Chorus
Hey loverboy...all we gotta do is practice good loving
Hey loverboy...together we can find the reason for living (Repeat)

Interlude (Keys Solo)

Verse 1 (Fade Out...)

This Is My Soul Talking

Written By: Marcia & Susana Barnes

Verse 1
How are you, you asked me
Much better now I thought to myself
You looked so good I shivered
But I wasn’t cold; I was thirty degrees

What is your name, you asked me
But I couldn’t speak; I was frozen in time
You knew you got me that second
I’m sure I had that foolish look upon me

Pre-Chorus
I ain’t lying, I wrote this song for you
I ain’t joking, this is my soul talking

Chorus
Love me, love me do
Shoo boo bee doo
I will do anything, anything you want me to
You are extraordinary
I love you oh so madly
I found you finally

Verse 3
Do you feel like I do?
Now it’s me, asking you
I wanna know if you’re as crazy as I am
I think I know, I just wanna be sure

Pre-Chorus

Chorus

Interlude

Pre-Chorus (Repeat)

Chorus (Repeat)

Hell With Your Ways

Written By: Marcia & Susana Barnes

Verse 1
You have done anything and everything
To put our love in jeopardy
You’ve acted shameless and careless
After committing perfidy

As much as you love me you hurt me
Whenever we fight you entice me,
Always, you find a way to bury the ashes,
To put out the matches

Pre-Chorus
Ooh…but not any more
Ooh…you better walk out the door

Chorus
Hell with your ways
Gone are your days
Get out of my bed
You’ll never fool me again (1st time)
You don’t fit in it anymore (2nd time)

Verse 2
I have done anything and everything
To keep this all from happening
I’ve acted humble and patient
Just to protect our family

As much as I love you I’m leaving
Whatever I do has no meaning
Always, we used to say for better for worse,
But now it’s a curse

Pre-Chorus 2
Ooh…I just can’t take anymore
Ooh…you better walk out the door

Bridge
I take you for my lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part.

Pre-Chorus 2

Chorus (Repeat)

Open Window

Written By: Marcia & Susana Barnes

I finally understand
The price I paid for loving you, whom I never knew
My smile is gone, I do not joke
I’m so far gone that I can’t go on

Perhaps somewhere there is a place
Where I can find myself again
I long to dance; I long to laugh
As a matter of fact, I just wanna have fun

Chorus
I need an open window
So I can climb out of this life
I need an open window
So I can climb out of this life

Verse 2
I finally understand
What I have done to be with you, whom I never knew
I gave you me and all my love
We shared good times but not enough

Perhaps somewhere there is a place
Where I can find myself again
I long to dance; I long to laugh
As a matter of fact, I just wanna have fun

Chorus

Bridge
There is no time to waste no more
I must be sure to change it all
What can I do to make it right,
To find a way to change my life?
(Repeat)

Chorus (Repeat)

Real Love

Written By: Marcia Barnes

Verse 1
It takes a second to relieve my pain
Only you can make me heal this way
Like lightening, like fire
I am cured

I just want to laugh; I just want to scream
Cause you know what to do to make me feel
Like I’m flying on a swing
Push me, baby (push me, baby)

Chorus
This is real love
What I’m giving you is real love
What you’re giving me is real love
We’re making real love…uh huh

Verse 2
The summer breeze, the summer trees
Are so beautiful, baby you are my world
Like paradise, like wine
This is love

Chorus

Bridge
You make me better…ohh…through stormy weather
You make me thankful…ohh…your love is tender
Your love is tender
I surrender to your love

Chorus
This is real love…

I don’t have to prove myself
I don’t have to prove myself to you
Cause this is real love
We’re making real love…uh huh

Please Forgive Me

Written By: Marcia Barnes

Verse 1
You’re giving me the cold shoulder
Every time I walk by, you turn away
I can’t even sleep at night
It hurts so bad; I get a stomachache

Pre-Chorus
My friends say forget about it
But it’s not that simple
I’m in love, and only the lovers can understand
How I feel and why I’m saying

Chorus
Please forgive me, baby believe me
I’m gonna treat you better; I’m gonna treat you better
Please forgive me; please forgive me
We gotta move on, baby fight for our love

Verse 2
You keep ignoring; there’s no solution
I keep on calling; I keep on calling
I thought that love was full of chances
Don’t we get one more chance?

Pre-Chorus
My friends say forget about it
But it’s not that simple
I’m in love, and only the lovers can understand
How I feel and why I’m begging

Chorus

Bridge
I wanna know what you’re thinking about,
What you’re thinking about; I can’t read your mind
I wanna know what you’re doing without
What you’re doing without me

Chorus (Repeat)

Dance With Me

Written By: Marcia & Susana Barnes

Verse 1
I saw you dancing
And I didn’t wanna take my eyes off you
I saw you dancing
And I didn’t wanna take my eyes off you

I saw you dancing
And I didn’t wanna stop the feeling coming over me
I saw you dancing
And I didn’t wanna stop the feeling flowing through me

Chorus
Dance with me
Dance with me
Put your arms around me
Let your knee touch my knee
(Repeat)

Verse 2
You know the secret
To make me wanna go all night
You know the secret
And babe it ‘s been a long, long time

You know the secret
And I’m giving you a chance to show me how you take the lead
You know the secret
And I’m giving you a chance to show me that you’re all that, baby

Chorus

Bridge
Vamos! This is a hot dance!

Chorus (Repeat)

Not Enough

Written By: Marcia Barnes

Not Enough

Verse 1
There was a time
When I would have been all over you
I would have made the first move
Just in case you didn’t

There was a time
When I would have missed all the signs
I would have waited up all night
Just for you to call

Chorus
But now I know the game
And I like the sunshine more than the rain
You think it’s cool to be so tough
But you’re not enough for me

Verse 2
There are sometimes
When you make my body tingle
I remember that we’re single
But it’s not enough

You’re not what I need
You don’t have the time
You just mess my mind
That’s the reason why

Chorus 2
I won’t play the game
And I like the sunshine more than the rain
You think it’s cool to be so touch
But you’re not enough for me

Bridge
It’s a shame
That we can’t be more than friends
It’s a shame
Cause they’re a lot of things I like about you
Still they’re not enough for us to make it through…

Chorus (Repeat)
