From Wu-Gambinos to Roc La Familia, hip-hop maintains an obsession with mafia movies and mobsters as imaginary “kingpins” like Frank White rapped about “the commission.” In a city where the infamous Black Mafia Family was founded, there’s an authentic Italian MC in the abyss, Marco Polo.
“Hip-hop has had its changes from the original elements to nowadays everyone’s wanting to be in the mob just like the movies,” Marco says. “Those movies gave an image to fear 'true gangstas!' I guess these rappers you’re talking about wanna be feared and CAN relate to those movies. Me personally, being a full-blooded Italian, I grew up to NOT talk about mafia. No one wants to get indicted, capisce?”
Marco won’t be sleeping with the fishes anytime soon. He’s preparing the release of a new mixtape, Throw Away Jointz Vol. 2, featuring catchy Italiano-flavored club cuts like “Hey Marco” to help build more buzz for his upcoming album, The Import. “Yeah I’m in tha club,” Marco says. “I’m in tha studio. I'm covering up with jobs. I’m in tha streets. I’m with women. I’m kickin’ it with fam. I’m raw, I’m ol' skool, I’m new. I dumb it down, I feed ur mind. I’m east, west, south, I’m Detroit! I’m makin’ beats, I’m MCin’. I’m sharing real life experiences. I teach, I show, I prove. I’m ‘bout go and take what’s mine! Marco Polo has been a pioneer in the Detroit underground Rap game as an Italian MC, Producer and Entertainer. In addition, he's also the Creative Director, Engineer & CEO of Vino Music Group.
Born in Detroit and raised in Mt.Clemens, Polo has been putting out quality hip hop in the Detroit music scene for years. Marco Polo has performed with the likes of Bone Thugs & Harmony, Eminem, D12, Obie Trice, Paradime, Trick Trick, Cage, Thirstin Howl III, Tame one, one.be.lo, Binary Star, Slum Village, DJ Houseshoes, Chedda Boy Malik, Miz Korona, Guilty Simpson & the Dreadnaughtz, Dj Marquis, Dj Godfather, etc and pretty much everybody thats anybody in the "dirty mitten."
Marco founded the group Krown P Camp in 2001 and in 2003 the group took Best Group/Duo, Best Compilation ("2 Min. Drill Mixtape) and Best Record Label (Regnant Records) - www.detroitrap.com awards.

Marco Polo has a huge fan base and following throughout the Detroit area and beyond. Now he is setting his sites on the number one spot!
