MARCO ZURZOLO BAND

It’s a long time that the italian jazz is trying to find its personality. Seen myself as an “old” jazz lover, I remember our best musicians ready to get the new vibrations and to imitate the jazz from the States, but they were very shy in seeking the omniscient “way to the italian jazz”, as we were all hoping. It’s true, Gato Barbieri, thanks to a famous soundtrack, showed his true “argentinian” soul...in a last tango in Paris; however that is where remain.
Finally, after many years, a neaopolitan musician, Marco Zurzolo, had the courage and decision to make us and the critcs understand that it was possible to follow not just an italian road, but even a neaopolitan one, wirdley but perfectly mixing with the essence of modern jazz.
Today Marco Zurzolo is an inernational name and, in a world like this where it’s easy to find fakes, he’s “internationally” appreciated even from the foreign “technics”, that love him especially for the hard and impredictable collaborations of neaopolitan “peeces” in an original jazz key. For me this road will bring him far, artisticly, obviously, because Zurzolo already travels much.
