Bio

With a foundation of world class music, earth elements and futuristic sounds, Marcus Wattz's music is one of a kind. Unique elements such as flute, water drops, oriental bells, and combination of various synthesizers are incorporated into his innovated production. With over 30 recordings with local artists, he continues to excel and advance his techniques within Washington D.C. metropolitan area.

Marcus Wattz was born in Montgomery County, Maryland. At the age of 7 he moved with his mother to Washington, D.C. In the early and mid 90s, Washington, D.C. was at its highest crime rate and in order to keep Marcus off the streets, his mother would spoil him with musical instruments. Marcus was heavily into sports around 10, but his heart was set on music. He would spend countless hours playing the keyboard, guitar, drums, and other instruments.

At the age of 12, his mother decided to move to Germantown, MD in pursuit of Marcus's education and well being. As before, his musical talent went on through high school where he began DJing for friends and local parties. After graduated from high school in 2000, Marcus planned on pursuit a Music Production degree.

Because Marcus's mother went through so much in her life as a single mother, he wanted to pay his way through college. Being so, he joined the Marine Corps hoping to gain his college degree. Marcus was stationed in Okinawa, Japan in his first year of service, and accomplishing goals for education and music. He adapted the Asian culture with the appreciation of multi-cultural music, and met with artists whom shared the same passion in music as he did. But the tragedy of 9/11 halted any hope of educational goals due to the urgent crises in national security. On September 11, 2004, Marcus separated from the Marine Corps with an Honorable Discharge and currently resides in Northern Virginia.

Marcus's passion in music sparked the interest to continue higher education at the Art Institute of Washing for Audio Production. Expanding his educational goals, he attends sit-in studio lessons at District Entertainment in Alexandria, Virginia. With his busy schedule as a full-time employee and full-time student, he finds time to make tracks, mix, and record with local artists and producers. His goal is to capture listeners around the globe and spread his musical inspiration.
