Marcy Mattison Vega was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. At the age of 13 she wrote her first song with the help of a Casio keyboard. It was at the age of 13 that making music became Marcy's passion.

While performing for Junior High, High School and College play productions. Marcy continued writing songs while completing her education. As an Alumni of Syracuse University, Marcy holds a bachelors of Science degree in Public Relations, with a minor in writing. Marcy also holds an Associates degree in Liberal Arts. In the summer of 1992, Marcy interned at Motown Records working under the Assistant Director of Public Relations at that time, Tonia Reeves.

After graduating from college, Marcy decided it was time to enter a recording studio with a few of the many songs she had written over the years. In 1996 a mutual friend introduced Marcy to Patrick Adams, who is the songwriter of such songs as "Push Push In The Bush" and "Touch Me All Night Long". Adams was impressed with Marcy's song writing abilities and assisted by lending his musical talent and expertise. Adams produced Marcy's first demo compilation.

Marcy entered four of her songs in The John Lennon Song Writing Contest in 2001. Although, she did not win first prize, she did receive an Honorable Mention for the song "Butterflies.
