As an Artist

Mardell Maxwell was born and raised in Junction City, Kansas where is passion for music first begun. At a small age he was groomed in the children’s church choir and learned from his mother who is head of music ministries. For years Mardell has performed on stage and has gained a reputation as being a “triple threat” in the area of performing arts. He has carried lead roles in popular musicals such as “Singing in the Rain”, “The King and I” and “Annie”. Now Mardell attends Kansas State University where he studies Public Relations and Music. In his first semester of school he was immediately recognized for his talents and received a major role in the hit musical “Grease”. During this time Mardell impressed thousands across the state with his vocals and stage presence. Soon after Mardell would decide to break from the performing arts scene and pursue his love for R&B. In 2004 he began writing songs for his first album called “The Freshman”. The album was released independently and sold over 1,000 copies in just his hometown. Soon after he began to shop some of the songs off the album and was discovered by Koalishun Management. In early 2005 Mardell signed with Koalishun and his music career since then has taken off. In the past months Mardell has traveled to several cities such as Saint Louis and San Antonio to perform while also doing several shows locally in front of his already established fans.

Currently Mardell is not under any contract, yet he is pursuing to release a second album, only this time bigger and better. Already he has made connections with producers and writers from New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Detroit. His first recording called “Dreams” is already ranked 18th on the R&B/Pop charts out of 20,000 songs listed (Soundclick.com). The second song released is a soulful, pop tune called “Walk With Me”. This track too has received rave reviews and is ranked #21 out of 34,000 songs on the urban charts (Soundclick.com). Since coming from a region with a lack of urban resources, Mardell has used the Internet to promote his music. Through websites such Soundclick.com, Talentmatch.com Mixposure.com and MardellMaxwell.com, he has reached thousands of music listeners that have all enjoyed what he has to offer as an independent artist.

Mardell Maxwell has a lot to offer the music industry with his ability to sing, dance, act, write and produce. God has blessed him with a beautiful instrument and his passion to use it is evident through his art. Mardell’s music is about expressing life, love and everything it has to offer using smooth vocals and chilling harmonies. At the young age of 19, Mardell has and will continue to make music that people of all ages can enjoy.
