"Guilfest Festival"

I´d not heard much about Margaux before Guilfest - although as soon as she took to the stage I somehow knew that people wouldn´t forget her that easily.

Margaux walked on with a confidence and professionalism that suggested that she was no stranger to playing on stage - her glittering outfit captivated the attention of the audience as she launches into her set..

But it was nearly oh so different as she raced to get to Guilfest after being grid locked in London´s notorious traffic - but like an ultimate professional she turned up, plugged in and peformed a great set.

Margaux will be joining pop giants Atomic Kitten, shock rocker Alice Cooper and nutty boys Madness at this year's Guilfest.

An up-and-coming pop star from East Herts will soon find herself on the international stage when she plays alongside the likes of Alice Cooper, Madness and Daniel Bedingfield. Singer and guitarist Margaux, of Great Hormead, will step on stage at the Guilfest summer festival in Surrey to showcase tracks from her debut album, 'My Difference'.

Margaux will play a set at 7.15 pm on the Friday of the three-day event, which will also play host to the likes of former Skunk Anansie frontwoman Skin, Atomic Kitten and Eurovision flops Jemini.

'I got into it because I was on TV,' explained Margaux. 'On 'Meridian News' there's a music feature called 'Around and About', where they have a different artist every Sunday.'

Camera crews came to film her at her home and when she told the producer about her attempts to get herself on the bill at the Reading Festival, he suggested she go for Guilfest. 'I got in touch with them and, on the strength of the TV programme, they booked me in. I was really chuffed.'

In addition to the Guilfest at Stoke Park in Guildford, Margaux will also play at one of Hertfordshire's biggest music events, Watford's Rainbow Festival. The Festival, over three consecutive Saturdays, is a platform for new musicians to make their mark. Margaux will bring her guitar-driven rock to the event at 11.45 am on June 28.

The musician, who was born in Cologne, Germany, to a Greek mother and Belgian father, is driven to succeed and dreams of being on 'Later with Jools Holland'.

But her main influence is not music but film. She said: 'When I was younger, I liked ZZ Top, David Bowie, I was heavily into Kate Bush. I love everything to do with science fiction, movies that stimulates the imagination. I love 'The Fifth Element'. I like things about space because I think one day we're going to go up there.'

Indeed, 'Fly Me To The Stars' on Margaux's album is about space travel, while another track, 'Desperation' is inspired by the Stephen King novel of the same name. But she said: 'It's very ambiguous because people think it's sexual. People think it's about being a sadist!'

Margaux hopes to crack the American market, and to support well-known bands on tour.

'I like the challenge of going to new places and reaching new goals. And I will not stop until I reach them.'

Bio

Various TV appearances and two self-produced albums 'My Difference' and 'Margaux With An X'
have generated a host of accolades for UK based singer/songwriter/guitarist Margaux.

Margaux's latest and third album 'Home Is You' is to be released in early 2008 and is an exciting live acoustic session recorded during filming of the videos.

It includes acoustic versions of tracks from previous studio recordings and is in part an album based on improvisation ; Margaux accompanied by singer/guitarist Seb Mallen performs an exciting musical challenge with neither Seb or her knowing precisely where the songs are taking them, which is typified in the main title track 'Margaux With An X'.

Margaux's album 'Margaux With An X' is an expression of her desire to extend and push her musical boundaries further. Says Margaux : ' I wanted to explore and amalgamate a cohesive collection of different musical styles, classical, rock, dance and techno'.

The album comprises a mixture of catchy, sexy and energetic tracks tinged with raw emotion, accompanied by driving techno beats and dance rhythmic undercurrents, punctuated by powerful guitar riffs and strong classical orchestration. Recorded at Margaux's recording studio 'Rachalans Studios' in Southern France, the album is capped off by her unique vocals, which TV presenter Damian Thomas called 'a voice that I could listen to until my dying day'.

Described as a 'rare jewel' with a 'voice oozing attitude', Margaux has an uncanny knack for captivating an audience with her original material.

She has actively promoted her music on the US and UK gig circuit, notably performing at the Rock Festival Guilfest alongside the likes of Alice Cooper and her New York City tour included renowned venues, such as The Bitter End and CB's Gallery.

A wider audience is beginning to hear the music as 'Around and About', a television program produced on Meridian TV and 'Art Fein's Poker Party' a US cable talk show, recently showcased Margaux as their featured artist.
