"Maria Ana Bobone : un concert triomphal"

Elle a tout pour elle, Maria Ana Bobone?: elle est jeune, agréable à regarder, elle a une superbe voix, énormément de talent et, pour couronner le tout, elle est d'une simplicité désarmante.

Mercredi soir, dans le cadre de « Bruissement d'Elles », le concert de la fadista (*) a enthousiasmé les spectateurs d'un Nouvel Atrium quasiment plein. Un public constitué en partie de lusitaniens d'origine, dont le consul honoraire, membres ou sympathisants de l'association France-Portugal. Maria Ana Bobone, accompagné par Rodrigo à la guitare portugaise, un guitariste classique et une guitare basse, a fait passer un frisson auprès des connaisseurs dès sa première chanson. Pour eux, il était clair que la réputation de la jeune chanteuse n'était pas surfaite.
La fadista a chanté des fados d'auteurs contemporains avec quelques titres de son dernier CD « Nome do Mar » et quelques grands classiques. Elle a rendu hommage à Arlindo de Carvalho en interprétant Hortelã Mourisca, un des succès de ce compositeur bien connu en Touraine. C'est ce même Arlindo qui l'avait recommandé il y a quelques mois à Robert Collet, le président de France-Portugal 37. L'incontournable « Lisboa nao sejas francesa », un immense succès d'Amalia Rodrigues, a envouté la salle. Par courtoisie, Maria Ana Bobone a tenu à chanter en français une chanson que lui a apprise sa grand-mère, son « Parlez-moi d'amour » tout en délicatesse (et sans le moindre accent) a été d'une beauté absolue. "Two Equally Captivating Approaches to the Fado"

Equally wonderful is Maria Ana Bobone’s Fado & Piano. Possessing a sleeker singing style without a good deal of trills as Ms. Rodrigues, Ms. Bobone is no less dazzling with her crystalline voice. Ms. Bonbone also can also shines with piano, percussion, guitar, keyboards and composition credits on Fado & Piano. Avoiding the strict traditional route, Ms. Bobone steps out on her own with tracks like “”Auto-retrato”and “Imagem.”

She describes how “Imagem” came about this way, “I wrote this song when I was eighteen, I was always very, very shy to show [my songs to people]. This one I wasn’t supposed to show – it was something that just came to me. It’s out of the fado language … but because it shows a little bit more of me I decided to include it in this project. Rodrigo (Serrao, the album’s producer) wrote the words for it – he’s always trying to pull me out of my shell and making me expose parts of me.”

Overflowing with plummy tracks like “Que Deus Me Perdoe,” “Melancolia” and “Ria Claridade,” Fado & Piano brims over with a sensual grace. Tracks like “Namorica da Rita” and “Fado XuXu” are simply delightful with Ms. Bobone’s positively effervescent vocals. With previous recordings like Senhora De Lapa, Luz Destino and Fado Today: Maria Ana Bobone – Misia to her credit, Ms. Bobone offers a fresh take on the fado with Fado & Piano that is as rich and as enchanting as Ms. Rodrigues.

Bio

Maria Ana Bobone started singing Fado at age 16, after completing courses in both Piano and Singing at the National Conservatory of Music.
She debuted with the album "Alma Nova", she then recorded two albums: “Luz Destino” and “Senhora da Lapa”.
Her career continued with the release of “Nome de Mar”in 2006.
Performing constantly in Portugal's major venues she is a regular guest at numerous festivals and concert halls throughout the world.
Released June 2012, she presents to the public her latest album - Fado & Piano.
