"Welcome to the LMA Maria!"

Maria MacDonald started singing before she could talk. Her early years were immersed in music. An eight-year-old Maria stunned her first audience, singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in a darkened school gym. Growing up she studied voice with the Royal Conserva- tory of Music and performed in many musicals at Oshawa Little Theatre. After high school she studied voice and drama at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Manhattan, New York. Deciding to become a doctor didn’t dampen the music in Maria. The intense human drama of medicine inspired so many songs that the pockets of her scrubs (uniform) filled with new lyrics and melodies. With a stroke of good luck Maria became connected with a Nashville studio, Eagle Canyon Music, and so her album, “Taste the Rain” was born. Her music can be described as jazzed up folk with a touch of country. “Taste the Rain” will be available in September 2010 through, iTunes, Amazon. CDBaby and Rhapsody. Maria MacDonald is a singer-songwriter living in London, Ontario. Her music is dually inspired by her personal life and her experience as a physician. On her album “Taste the Rain” you’ll find familiar themes of love and heartbreak in the songs “Because of You” and “All the Butterflies are Gone”. You’ll also hear unique songs like “Collecting Pieces” about fighting for the lives of critically ill patients, written when she was the resident doctor in charge of the hospital intensive care unit. "Wake up Little Girl" was written after working several 100-hour weeks is meant to inspire her medical colleagues and all hardworking women in the home and workplace.
