Marianne Milde

I've always been into some form of musical activity ever since I was a child. Started out as a piano player aged 7, joined my first choir when I was 8 or 9, added the violin at age 10. Performed a self-written song in public for the first time in 1989, aged 19.
The past few years I've made a big journey from a strictly classical singer & musician into where I am today. Started to take my songwriting seriously in the early to mid 2000's. Ended up in the finals in a national Christian songwriting contest in 2002 and got a song for choir published as sheet music in 2004, Then I worked on changing my voice from classical to pop / folk, likewise with my piano playing. I no longer play the violin, but started to play the tenor guitar (4-stringed guitar) in 2008 and switched that to a usual 6-string guitar in 2010.
My classical influences, especially from the world of musicals, might still be there, but there are indeed more and more pop and folk influences in my music.During the 1990s and early 2000s, my favourites were Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand, but the past 7-8 years I've been listening to quite a broad variety of artists, mainly in the folk / singer-songwriter genre. My summers at a songwriting retreat / camp in Lendas, Crete, and the teachers and co-participants there, have been a huge inspiration and important learning experience.
Since 2011, I sometimes also have a cellist and / or a bassist with me. It's not always they can join me though, so I'm still mainly a solo act.
