Bio

Marie O’Dwyer is a singer songwriter who has performed across Australia for the past 10 years, with 2009 bringing many gig highlights at Perth’s new and established folk music festivals. She weaves classical and jazz studies with world music flavours, complimented by an honest and perceptive lyrical prose.
Throughout her music career Marie has received radio airplay (ABC Radio National, RTR, RRR, PBS), coverage in the press (Xpress, Drum, Inpress, Beat) and has performed on local TV networks (CH 7, CH31).
Likened to Joni Mitchell, Kasey Chambers and Howling Bells vocalist (Juanita Stein) her influences range from a healthy dose of country music in her upbringing, to Nina Simone and story teller Paul Kelly.
Marie is a full time muso who lives and breathes music through all aspects of her life; studying at WAPPA, teaching others music, playing cover gigs and every now and then earning a dollar from her originals.
Her plans are to release a full length album toward the end of 2010 and follow that up with a six month Australian Tour. With 3 CD releases to her credit (Fold, This Moment and Live at the Jam Hut), she is in the process of demoing recent compositions in her home studio which is how you will hear her songs at this moment.
Marie is currently performing in solo mode using her acoustic guitar and voice for an intimate and stripped back delivery of her songs. Playing in a variety of bands in Perth and Melbourne has helped shaped her progression and she continues to play with other musicians on theirs, and, her own works.
