"THE ROAD"

Hi Marilyn,

I just listened to your CD.

“Marilyn’s THE ROAD is a fun romp of a rocking folk CD. She’s got that 70s feeling, that of a “liberated lady with a romantic mind.” Her liner notes speak of inspiring nights at The Delta Lady in Ferndale, one of the few bars of that era where local musicians could sing their own songs. Marilyn has preserved the exhilaration of that bygone Woodward folk scene with passionate vocal delivery and confessional lyrics that sound new again. Guitar work and backup vocals from songwriter David Nefesh add just the right touch. “

Sincerely, John D. Lamb

Great work, Marilyn. It’ll be great to hear you at Memphis Smoke.

"The Road"

"Marilyn has a gift for melody ... the kind that draws you in from the first note, and then won't let loose its hold on you. Her new CD, The Road, shows off this talent, and pairs it with poignant storytelling - particularly on Down the Road and Tryin'. Take to The Road with Marilyn ... she'll lead you on a journey!" - Mark Iannace

Bio

Marilyn (Sarah McLaghlan meets Jimmy Buffett) and Jere (Neil Young meets Bette Midler) have been performing in and around Detroit for years. They met when Marilyn sang live on WDET and Jere was the sound engineer. They were formerly in the Astronauts of Love, but are now the Folk-A-Delic Duo, QUENCH.

Alone, Marilyn covers her favorites from Joni Mitchell, John Prine, Nanci Griffith, Billy Ed Wheeler (among many others) to the Beatles and Pink Floyd. Her passionate belief that you're either part of the problem or part of the solution leads her to lend a hand raising funds for causes that save lives. That same passion is delivered in her own songs with a voice that sounds like velvet, yet needs no amplification.
