BandBluesLatin

Blues with a Latin touch, uniquely Texas.

Biography

Mario de la Torres music fuses Stevie Ray Vaughn Texas blues guitar with Carlos Santana's latin style guitar.
He grew up in Houston, Texas in the predominately Hispanic 2nd ward. At age 12 Mario's uncle gave him a 57 Les Paul guitar and he quicky began learing Tejano style guitar. A change in family status found Mario living with relatives in the Blues capitol of Texas, Navasota. In Navasota everyone plays guitar! A Nashville studio guitarist lived across the street and the Texas Blues legend Mance Lipscomb lived further down the road.
A year after moving to Navasota Texas he was gigging with several cover bands in the area. Mario de la Torres has worked with classic rock band The Hidden Image who won the NASCAR Battle of the Bands, Albatross who was featured on MTV's Basement Tapes, and heavy metal band Shagnasty who opened for national music acts and amassed a large regional following.
True to the creed "Sex, drugs, and Rock and Roll" Mario lived life hard and fast. But a desparate prayer changed his life forever.
The Lord led Mario to Christ Temple church in Irving, Texas. His time at Christ Temple left a permanent mark upon his life and Mario counts it a blessing to have worked with Dan Dean of the Christian band Phillips Craig and Dean and the gifted and anointed choir and musicians at Christ Temple.
Mario has had the privilege of working with 91.7 Power FM, DayStar praise and worship team, Behind The Wire prison ministry, Phillips Craig and Dean, MTV pop diva Mikaila, Big Methuselah, Ted Pearce, The Power and Authority Mass Choir, Dorothy Norwood, Cynthia Green, and Rohn Bailey.
Mario recorded his first album, 'Sojourn' in 2005. Over the next several years he released three more albums covering rock, metal, Latin, and blues genres.
Mario's latest album 'New Beginnings' is a type of journal that speaks to life in Christ. Songs of God's faithfulness and God's healing power. The Christ centered life against an audio collage of Latin and Blues music.
