Music has always been part of Mario's life. His father was member of the Mauritius Police Band and composer of the Mauritian National Anthem. Mario started singing at 15 years of age when he won first prize in a local television song contest. - The Editor

Son of the composer of the National Anthem of Mauritius (indian ocean), Mario started to sing in a Choir at the age of 13. After he won a TV song contest, "Star Show", he began doing cabarets in tourist hotels and formed a pop band, the Misfits II, performing around the island of Mauritius. Later Mario turned to Gospel music, believing the world needs a song with a message. Mario also writes and performs mainstream materials, anything that shows some intelligent thoughts. Mario have won numerous awards from competitions from Billboard, Paramount and more recently from the Australian Songwriter's Association (ASA) 25th National contest where his song written about the Tsunami and other disasters such as the Katrina Hurricane SO LONG, reached 5th position. It is Mario's wish to be offered a staff writing deal as he believes himself capable of writing for the music market.
Mario now lives in Melbourne, Australia and performs in various places. He has been invited on many radio stations, in Australia and USA amongst other countries.
He lately released a gospel album 'Contrast' that portrays the Christian faith, hope, and love which he enjoys sharing. He has toured in the USA and Canada, New Caledonia, Reunion Island. He has appeared on "Purely Music", a music program at KSBN Safe TV in Arkansas, USA and also featured on their Christmas program.
Mario holds songwriting classes at community houses around Melbourne, Australia. He also owns Magesongs Publishing (ASCAP), an indie music publishing company building up a catalogue of quality songs he can find from talented songwriters from around the world, as well as songwriters he has trained himself.

MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES & ACHIEVEMENTS
1978 Won TV song contest 'Star Show' in Mauritius.
1979 Cabaret singing in tourist hotels.
1979 - 83 Performed with the Misfits II until Christian conversion.
1982 Performed in first Gospel concert at Lido Theatre, Mauritius.
1985 Released original french Gospel audio tape, titled 'Je suis..'.
1988 Performed in Gospel concert at Tampon Theatre in Reunion Island, Indian Ocean & migrated to Australia.
1989 Joined Melbourne based Gospel group, New Testament for six months..
1992 Toured New Caledonia, Pacific Ocean, during Eastertime, with appearances on "Havanah" on RFO TV, with interviews and 2 radio stations and concerts advertised on TV week and the Caledonian newspaper.
1993-1994 Performed in various concerts in different locations across Australia, including ADRA fund raising-' Show
That You Care' - Gospel Music Concert, Camberwell Town Hall, Melbourne.
1995-1998 Toured with the Melbourne Advent Brass Band as lead singer together with Yola Mielczarek, soprano
artist. Recorded 2 tracks on the Melbourne Advent Brass Band album. 'Spiritual Moment', namely 'Wonder of his
Grace and Medley - How Excellent Your Name Is and Shine Jesus Shine'. Performed occasionally with the 'Met
Transit Band'; sang at a fund raising concert with the Advent Brass Band at Yarra Junction with other artists, featuring Lisa Mc Cune and John Wood from 'Blue Heelers' TV soap.
2000 Performed at the Skydome, Toronto, Canada.
2001 Toured for 3 months across the USA giving 11 concerts and performing in other programs.
2002 Won a Director's Award of Merit from Paramount's songwriting contest.
2003 Mario received Honorable Mentions from Billboard, for the 3 songs he entered into the 11th Billboard Song Contest. The 3 songs were entered through Sonicbids.
