Marjorie Richards writes songs that deeply move people. Vivid images layered through her lyrics render more like poetry than pop, on top of vocals that resonate in the deepest corners of the heart.

This may explain why Richards is consistently part of the top 10 finalists in the songwriting contests she enters. She has been a top 10 finalist in 13 national songwriting competitions including a first place win at Seattle's Lakefolk Fest where she walked away with a brand new Tacoma Guitar.

She has shared the stage with Kris Delmhorst, Louise Taylor, Anne Weiss, Erika Luckett, Annie Gallup, Daryl Purpose, Edie Carey, and Jamie Anderson, among others. She has opened for Catie Curtis, Sonia, Carrie Newcomer, David Roth, and Lucy Kaplansky.

Her debut CD, entitled, here, was selected by the Performing Songwriter magazine as one of their Top 12 Independent Recordings in 1997. This 13-song disc garnered outstanding reviews it has been played on nationally syndicated NPR radio and some AAA stations including Seattle’s KMTT The Mountain.

She has toured up and down the West Coast, performed at the National Women’s Music Festival in Indiana; the Rockrgrrl conference in Seattle; the South Florida Folk Festival; The Napa Valley Folk Fest; the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest and Telluride Emerging Songwriter showcases in Colorado.
