"Mark Richardson - "Sounds from Tequila Town""

Mark Richardson
Sounds from Tequila Town

OK, so you have no idea who Mark Richardson is. Well, if you do then you should probably have my job and be writing this, but I’ll move forward as if you don’t. Pop in Sounds from Tequila Town and close your eyes. There, now you have no idea that who you are listening to is Mark Richardson because he is so talented. It might even aggravate you that you don’t know who he is, but calm down, that’s what I’m here for.

Now, indie country isn’t something that comes my way very often, but I’ll take it when I get it. And by indie, I simply mean not signed. Sounds from Tequila Town is a beautiful record full of everything you love to hear from a country artist. Richardson has such a sincere way of singing, and a genuine songwriting style that you cannot help but like everything that he is doing.

Sounds is opened with perhaps Richardson’s sharpest tracks in She’s Gone and If We Meet Again. Richardson’s words are real and his voice is believable and understanding. It honestly has me drawing comparisons to some of the best the game has ever seen, like George Strait, Randy Travis and so on. It’s not too far gone a comparison once you take Sounds for a spin. Heart to A Strange Hand might be Richardson’s best written song, and I’m really digging on how relatable and universal his lyrics are. When I listen to Memories I can only think of Alan Jackson for some reason. This song is one of Richardson’s better off of sounds and might just be his most well-rounded.

Country is good change of pace music, and on the indie scene I have yet to see much better that Mark Richardson and Sounds from Tequila Town. It is both fun and heartfelt at the same time.

Two-steps like:
- Randy Travis – Wind in the Wire
- George Strait – It Just Comes Natural
