Something Old, Something New
With New and Returning Acts, Spencer Fair Marks 118th Year

SPENCER - Worcester County residents have plenty to look forward to this Labor Day weekend, with the Spencer Fair introducing several new acts and bringing back some of the old favorites.

The 118th Spencer Fair, which will be held from Friday, Sept 1, to Monday, Sept 4, will feature action, comedy and old-fashioned family fun on its 28-acre grounds off of Route 31. Festivities will kick off early at the Midway where carnival rides will open on Thursday, Aug 31, 5 to 9.p.m.

"There's actually alot of new attractions this year," said Gorda MacKay of MacKay Marketing, an outside firm marketing for the fair.

Fairgoers shouldn't miss Winn's Galazy of Thrills, a new act in which the female daredevil Galaxy Girl will perform stunts on a 127-foot pole, MacKay said. No nets or safety devies are involved in the trapeze act actop the worlds tallest sway pole, he added. The performance will take place at least twice a day throughout the lon weekend. Also visiting the fair for the first time will be Mark Bennick, an illusionist who has been performing Las Vegas for seven years

"Count The Cash," the new daytime game show that is looking to establish itself at Greek Isles, has added magic.

Mark Bennick, whose stage name is The Prince Of Magic, is to our knowledge the youngest magician professionally performing in Las Vegas. He is 18.

Bennick warms up the Greek Isles studio audience before the game begins.

His first gig was in the showroom at Fitzgerald's downtown.

We would not be surprised to see his name on his own Vegas showroom one day.

Mark Bennick
From the first moment you see this 23 year old, 6'6" Magician, and watch his mastery of the Art of Illusions, you won't take your eyes off the stage. If you blink he will make someone or something disappear, turn your head and his lovely assistant will be transported right next to you. Where his show is a family operation. Mark loves wowing his audience with non stop magic and he also has a great sense of humor with quick wit.Mark has the good fortune of having some of the finest performing room’s right in his backyard.
"Showtime at the Apollo" spotted him at The Orleans Hotel & Casino.
The "Magic Castle" in Hollywood spotted him at the Paris Hotel & Casino

Having performed all over Las Vegas:

• Mirage Hotel & Casino• Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino• Paris Hotel & Casino•Stardust Hotel & Casino
Just to name a few. Many are surprised to discover that Mark was the youngest showroom illusionist in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas Leisure Guide says “Mark brings back fond memories of a young David Copperfield.”
“Sometimes the usual trappings are the best. People love the Double Spiker; its 16 razor sharp swords penetrating a box and the assistant, but it’s how you execute the illusion... and is the audience having fun? That’s what I care about.”
states Mark.
Wise beyond his years….he’s an old magician’s soul in a young body. It’s all about the magical possibilities. Bennick is so far ahead of the game at 23, it boggles the mind to think of the future possibilities and new exciting moments on TV waiting ahead for this young man. For right now, his successful appearances on “Showtime at the Apollo” and The Magic Castle is just the beginning.

Bruce Block’s unusual talents has prompted “20/20’s” Barbara Walters to ask, “Why would anyone want to do that?” His extensive studies of comedy, juggling, magic and vaudeville contribute to his truly original show. He has appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon”, “Comedy Central”, “CBS Today Show”, “Entertainment Tonight”, “CNN News”, and was a finalist on the past two seasons of NBC’s top rated show “America’s Got Talent” Bruce is a popular act at colleges, cruise ships and comedy clubs. He and can currently be seen at The Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. While working with Joan Rivers she remarked, “Dose your mother know you do these things?”

ROYALTY: Michael’s performances are so highly acclaimed that he has earned the nickname “Favorite Amongst Royalty.” He has performed for the “King and Queen of Romania,” the “King and Queen of Malaysia,” the Princess of Spain and at a ROYAL VARIETY PERFORMANCE for “Princess Diana and Prince Charles.” He was also personally requested by his “Royal Highness, Prince Rainier of Monaco.”
