Bio

The Haba Dudes are a local Gold Coast band taking the Coast by storm with their unique style of emotive folk pop. The Habas have a monthly residency at original music venue, Swingin’ Safari in Surfers Paradise. They also play Three Worlds, Mermaid Beach; and other gigs from Northern NSW to Brisbane. However, it is at Swingin’ Safari especially that the Haba Dudes are developing a large fan base, playing shows regularly with 200 people through the door!

Haba Dudes play a fresh style of emotive, folk-reggae-pop-rock. The band have just recorded their third demo at the Griffith University Bachelor of Popular Music Studios courtesy of Serotonin Productions and the Gold Coast City Council; and are already working on a fourth new demo expected to be completed by the end of October.

Haba Dudes are built around 27 year old Gold Coast singer songwriter Mark Boulle and the unique personalities of all the Haba Dude members. Mark has been working as a musician for the last six years. He writes, sings, plays guitar, piano and various other instruments. As well as love, freedom and hope, Mark writes about the end of humanity and society lost. He writes for all the people of the world but especially pens his message for the young people.

22 year old drummer Jonno Harding-Clark, sits at the drums adding power and drive to the Habas music as well as delicate and intimate craftsmanship. Renowned local artist Elodie Mayberry plays a haunting violin which can run, bounce, shriek and lift the music to heart rendering crescendos. Marcos Araujo brings a seductive, mellow and sultry flavour with his graceful sax solos. He plays the alto, tenor and crowd favourite- pocket trumpet! Finally, Gold Coast Zen master, Shawn Rodney Burnett provides the cream- bass. Shawn brings a peaceful energy and musical harmony to the Haba Dudes’ eclectic personalities.

Haba Dudes music is constantly evolving and being refined. Their philosophy is Minimalism. Their influences range from Bob Marley, Django Reinhardt and Radiohead to Prince, Nirvana and Avalanches. The Habas are inspired by these diverse influences, delving into Acoustic Emo, Grunge, Reggae, Rock, Funk and Gypsy Jazz. The Haba Dudes have recorded several demos, receive airplay on regional stations in Northern NSW and Qld, have featured on various compilation albums and are currently in the running for Triple J Unearthed and the MusicOz Awards 2006.
