Bio
For 37 years (and counting), the MUD BAY BLUES BAND has been
electrifying audiences world-wide with their innovative style of
original Blues & Roots. Weathering more than a few storms along the way,
they have been acclaimed bona fide Soul Survivors—'The Band That
Won’t Go Away'—much to the delight of music lovers near and far. This ain’t your average blues band.
Founded in 1978 by lead singer / blues
harp maestro Mud Bay Slim, the band’s high-voltage performances
soon distinguished them from their more conventional counterparts in
the Vancouver R&B scene. Through the years, their exuberant
approach to writing and performing has earned them respect and praise from such Blues legends as James
Cotton (“Just like playing with family”) and the late great
Stevie Ray Vaughan (“Mud Bay ...? More fun ...!”)
A spin of
their groundbreaking 2007 album, 'Death,
Taxes & the Mud Bay Blues Band (3 Things That Won‘t Go Away)'
reveals the wealth of influences informing their unique sound:
classic Chicago blues, Country, Zydeco, full-tilt-boogie Rock and
Roll … a multitude of styles find common ground in the songs, all
played the Mud Bay way. 2009's 'Mudified'
and 2015's 'Colebrook Road'
continue this tradition of innovative original music that explores,
expands and celebrates the rich heritage of Blues & Roots.
Unconventional. Uncompromising. The MUD BAY BLUES BAND do it
their own way. Always have, always will.
