Biography

Mark DeRose & The Dreadnought Brigade is a rootsy, soulful, rock n roll band from Lancaster, PA featuring the original songs of Mark DeRose (vocals, guitar, piano, mandolin). Patrick Kirchner of The Fly describes this engaging music as thoughtful and provocative, laden with metaphors of hope and celebration for life the stuff that makes feel good music feel so good".

With over a dozen years experience, a varied list of band projects and five albums to his credit, a few years back DeRose began to feel himself looking for a fresh start. He and four musical buddies rented a house overlooking the beautiful Susquehanna river for a long weekend in January. With no real agenda and a house full of gear, the group experimented with new ideas, explored older songs, and let the muse lead the way. The result of the retreat was the birth of The Dreadnought Brigade and a new direction for DeRose's music that calls back to his love for rootsy blue-eyed soul and classic rock of the late 60s and 70s.

The band brings high-energy performances of DeRose's upbeat, feel good music to stages across the tri-state region. However, they're just as happy to leave the amps at home and bring the same positive energy to acoustic settings, listening rooms, and house concerts. For fans of Van Morrison, Counting Crows, and The Band.

Over the years, DeRose has had the pleasure of opening for national touring artists Rusted Root, Gin Blossoms, Michelle Branch, Edwin McCain, Blues Traveler and Josh Kelley. Hes also had the unique opportunity to perform as part of an NFL halftime show for the Baltimore Ravens. Additionally, he has had the good fortune of having his music featured for use on daytime television.

Every Song I've Ever Heard Of Love

Written By: Mark DeRose

Driving down a familiar road that takes me to my home
It's been two weeks or maybe more out her on my own and I'm going home
It's where I want to be
and you, You Are Home To Me

Radio plays songs of love from so many years ago
The melodies bring memories of the love I've come to know In My Life
they're all Your Song
How lucky am I to be Your Only One?

You're my Blue Sky
You're my Sweet Caroline
When you're gone no There Ain't No Sunshine
Cuz You're Every Song I've Ever Heard Of Love
Cuz You're Every Song I've Ever Heard Of Love

There's a peaceful easy feeling when I look into your eyes
When I see your smiling face baby I'm amazed by how sweet it is
to be loved by you
Something in the way you do the things you do

Chorus

It's as if every song I hear was written from me to you
I can't say it any better or find words more true to say I love you.
The best that I can do is to promise to always sing this song for you.

Chorus 2x

Good Days Will Come Again

Written By: Mark DeRose

Said I remember those days when it all came so easy, but I was too
young to know.
The good, good life my momma and daddy gave me, I was a lazy day saint
laying low.
Day after day, all cares would fade away.
But something got changed, it all got rearranged. Where did those good days go?

So I said good bye. I said good bye.
I said good bye to that life, and hope the good days will come again.

Seems these days nothin' comes so easy my life just feels like a chore
Up early in the morning, running through the daylight, back home to do
it once more.
Day after day, they all feel the same
Something's gotta change, we can't keep living this way. We've got to
find those days once more.

So I said good bye. I said good bye.
I said good bye to that life, and hope the good days will come again.

So if you're looking for someone to point a finger of blame
Keep the light from the mirror 'cuz you'll only find shame.
It's the way of the world, but why should we do the same?

So pack up your things I'm coming to take you away
From this life that we live, you know I say it's a sin.
I don't want no more of this day after day.
So I said good bye. I said good bye.
I said good bye to that life, and hope the good days will come again.

So I said good bye. I said good bye.
I said good bye to that life, and hope the good days will come again.

One More Day

Written By: Mark DeRose

It's a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear
it's a wrinkle in your nose like you don't care
it's knowing what you mean without you saying a word

You know every word to favorite 80's song
Your "Super Sonic" on the mic as you're singing along
you like it old school, the way that we used to do

You see I'm falling in love a little more each day
with the things that you do and the things that you say
When I think I know love, I wait one more day

CHORUS

So gimme one more day, to see your smile
one more day, to hear your laugh
one more day to fall in love with you

So gimme one more day, to learn your ways
one more day, to look in your eyes
one more day to fall in love with you

you get the giggles late at night but that's the price that you pay
when your mind's like a Mustang on the Dixie Highway
running with your foot to the floor day after day

You got a sweet northern way from the land of the mitten
and though I held another's hand I knew that I was smitten
Like Willie Dixon I "can't quit you babe"

(cuz') What I thought was love on that first day,
has grown and changed in a million ways
When I think I know love, I wait one more day

CHORUS

I know you don't need no fancy roses
or words from a card you know I'd never say
I know all we need to get us through til we're old and gray

Chorus 2x

Today's not the same as yesterday,
cuz tomorrow I'll love you in a brand new way
When I think know love, I wait one more day
When I think know love, I wait one more day
