Lyrics

Trainyard

Written By: Mark Foster Hall

Standing by the trainyard
Watching as a freight train rolls on by
They couple them together
Been doing it forever
They only stay together for a while
Only stay together for a while

Standing by the trainyard
Watch another freight train roll on by
They reach their destination
Halfway across the nation
Break apart and take another ride
Break apart and take another ride

Standing by the trainyard
Watch another freight train roll on by
They've never known a home
They were just born to roam
And sometimes I think so was I
Sometimes I think so was I
Sometimes I think so was I
Sometimes I think so was I

Standing by the trainyard
Watch another freight train roll on by...

Southbound Train

Written By: Mark Foster Hall

Chorus:
Waiting on a southbound train
To take me from this city
Waiting on a southbound train
I can't take this life no more
Well I'm going to climb on board
And rest my weary soul
A southbound train's
Gonna take me home tonight

Verse 1:
Well I've been here in this city
Since I can't remember when
And if I ever find my way back home
I ain't never gonna leave again
I'm waiting at the station
I hope that train's on time
I hear that whistle blowing
Gonna take me on down the line

Chorus

Verse 2:
Gonna leave this town behind me
And I won't be back no more
Rolling through the night time
I can hear that diesel roar
When the sun comes up tomorrow
I'll be back where I belong
But now I'm waiting at the station
You can hear me sing this song

Words Can't Say

Written By: Mark Foster Hall

I'm looking down the road ahead of me
But I don't know where it leads
At times like this a little direction
Seems to be just what I need
Looking for answers, searching for glances
Of what this life's all about
I keep on trying, but I don't know why
Because there ain't no easy way out

Words can't say - all that you want them to
Words can't say - all that you need them to
Words can't say why I believe in you

You're the inspiration and the foundation
For everything that I am
Searching for your word to guide me
I try so hard to understand
Flying in the sky with my head in the clouds
It seems so easy to do
With my feet on the ground every step leads
Into something that I never knew

Words can't say - all that you want them to
Words can't say - all that you need them to
Words can't say why I believe in you

-Guitar solo-

Words can't say - all that you want them to
Words can't say - all that you need them to
Words can't say why I believe in you

Changing of the Season

Written By: Mark Foster Hall

Thought I knew just what I wanted
Thought I knew which way to go
Now I'm back here where I started
How I got here I don't know

Simple things ain't always easy
Across every path you find a wall
Sometimes you get there without trying
Try to hard you lose it all

I couldn't tell you all the reasons
For the changes in this heart of mine
Could be the changing of the season
Or just the passing on of time

We try to have things how we want them
I tried to see your point of view
Things could stay this way forever
But that's not what we want to do

I couldn't tell you all the reasons
For the changes in this heart of mine
Could be the changing of the season
Or just the passing on of time

The Sky's Always Blue

Written By: Mark Foster Hall

Sometimes I think
That you must have been crazy
To walk away
from a love that was true
I don't know what color
The sky is in your world
But here in my world
The Sky's Always Blue

Once upon a time
we were happy
You can't deny
that you felt it, too
Now I know it wasn't
All sunshine
But since you left me
The Sky's Always Blue

Bridge:
Yes the sky's always blue
But the sun never shines
I'm still loving you
How I wish you were mine

[Instrumental verse]

Every morning
I wake up and wonder
What on Earth
This world's coming to
The sun may be shining
In your world
But here in my world
The Sky's Always Blue

Yes, here in my world
The Sky's Always Blue

Preaching to the Choir

Written By: Mark Foster Hall

The shadow of a doubt is haunting that which you imply
Though your efforts to deceive yourself are so clever and so sly
Just 'cause you yourself believe it doesn't mean it's not a lie
And your words they echo empty with no response to dignify

It's been clear for quite some time you're caught in spirals of decline
And to cover for yourself you've decided others to malign
A seeming coincidence can often happen by design
And turn so beneficial when you aim to undermine

You're preaching to the choir
Seeking those you would convert
While the truth you claim to represent
You're trying to subvert
Though it's a treason of the spirit
In which you have conspired
In the end you're only preaching to the choir

It's difficult to comprehend to what heights you still aspire
When for a status quo of emptiness you are the justifier
You still don't realize you're only preaching to the choir
As you turn and look to someone else to be your testifier

You're preaching to the choir
Seeking those you would convert
While the truth you claim to represent
You're trying to subvert
Though it's a treason of the spirit
In which you have conspired
In the end you're only preaching to the choir
