Mark Ibberson

BandRockSinger/Songwriter

My music can best be described as melodic slow rock songs with vocal, piano/keyboards, guitar, drums and bass. The songs are neither happy nor sad, but are reflective; looking at life from a personal viewpoint.

Biography

I am a songwriter based in Switzerland. My influences are many and varied, from choral music to hard rock, folk, country and electronic.
I started writing music in 1998 and over the past few years have produced several albums-worth of unreleased material. In 2005 I recorded and produced my first official album 'Goodbye Mr. A', and subsequently released 2 singles of previously unreleased material, 'Rain' and 'Pie jesu' in the same year. Also in 2005, I recorded and produced the album 'The Red and Black Escape' by a young local artist Jessika.
I have just finished my new album 'Imperfect by Design' and a single 'Tolkien Way' released early in 2007.

Lyrics

Zurich

Written By: Mark Ibberson

All this time I've been wondering,
wondering about my future life.
Where to go, what to do? Buy a house with a view? but ..

Why would I want to go to Zurich when I can stay here with you?
To be with you.

Feel like I'm passing my time in limbo, waiting for the world to decide how I'm going to live my life.
Thinking of us two, can we really make it through? but ..

Why would I want to go to Zurich when I can stay here with you?
To be with you.

Why would I want to go to Zurich when I can stay here with you,
and be with you?

Why should I feel we might never make it? The future's something to look forward to.
But baby I love you, and we've made such a great debut so ..

Why would I want to go to Zurich when I can stay here with you?
To be with you.

Sometime in 2005

Written By: Mark Ibberson

Switched on the telly today,
Not much is happening, here anyway.
Switched off the telly today,
I can't remember a word they say.

I don't know what I feel today,
The way I see it now is fading away.
And if I've got it wrong, we could remember sometime ..
in 2005

Picked up the paper today,
Not much is happening, here anyway.
Threw out the paper today,
I don't believe a word they say.

I don't know what I feel today,
The way I see it now is fading away.
And if I've got it wrong, we should remember sometime ..
in 2005

Why should we not care about the tides of tears?
It's only chance of nature makes us safe out here.
And if there's something wrong, we should remember sometime ..
in 2005

Why should we not care about the tides of fear?
It's only chance of nature makes us safe out here.
And if there's something wrong, we should remember sometime ..
in 2005

Leaving

Written By: Mark Ibberson

Life is harder than that
It's time to give in and game over
I know how you've tried
To give me some part of your life

But if I stop feeling when the rain comes down
There'll be no believing without you here
I'm just deceiving when I hear your voice
'Cos there'll be no leaving without you

My life is getting dark
I want you near me
What can I do
To feel like I'm holding you?

'Cos if I stop feeling when the rain comes down
There'll be no believing without you here
I'm just deceiving when I hear your voice
'Cos there'll be no leaving without you

I know that it's cold outside
But I'm never giving up
'Till I'm frozen inside

'Cos if I stop feeling when the rain comes down
There'll be no believing without you here
I'm just deceiving when I hear your voice
'Cos there'll be no leaving without you

'Cos there'll be no leaving ..

Tolkien Way

Written By: Mark Ibberson

Welcome somewhere, strangers everywhere
I’m not complaining, ‘cos it’s not raining.
I’m living over there, it’s small, a bit square,
No bed worth keeping, but when I’m sleeping ..

Then I feel like I’m home again
Reading by the coal fire I was warm back then
And I stop pretending as it fades away
Sipping my coffee down by Tolkien Way

Many years gone, my life has moved on
But all the songs that I once knew
Are coming out to see me through and

Then I feel like I’m home again
Reading by the coal fire I was warm back then
And I stop pretending as it fades away
Sipping my coffee down by Tolkien Way ..

Mr Green

Written By: Mark Ibberson

Four Fridays is all it takes
To rid me of this heartache
I’m losing but no one can tell
I’m lost in my own hidden Hell

The faces come out of the ground
I’m fading so much I can’t be found
The race is over where I’ve been
I’m feeling solo like Mr Green

Four hours in this rare day
Like two halves of a fair-play
Too bad we’re all just out of time
The watchman has just crossed the line

The faces come out of the ground
I’m fading so much I can’t be found
The race is over where I’ve been
I’m feeling solo like Mr Green

Paper clues followed over in the breaking gloom
Consecrated for you to meditate

The faces come out of the ground
I’m fading so much I can’t be found
The race is over where I’ve been
I’m feeling solo like Mr Green

Rainbow, we still know
Halo, fading glow

Halo

Written By: Mark Ibberson

Looking over I find your smile
I'm falling over, my mind's on redial
All the roses won't make you see, but
When the lights are fading, you're illuminating

Halo, a faint glow of light
Halo, I feel so alive
Halo, don't fade low tonight

Now I feel that all the world is making sense
I feel like the wind blows
I cry at the rain
I don't believe I'm the same

Halo, a faint glow of light
Halo, I feel so alive
Halo, don't fade low tonight
