Mark Lock

Mark, like his music, is a roamer. Born and lived out his early years in the South-eastern point of England before living in the North-eastern highlands of Scotland as a teenager. Moving from one end to the other, ‘Mark Lock Music’ fittingly, has now settled in the middle of the UK, Derby, where the sound and ambition now wishes to grow its wings to a wider audience. Mark’s sound, despite being eclectic and philosophised around the notion of ‘If it works for the song, I’ll use it!’ primarily fits in an alternative, rock and folk setting. Each song likes to have a beginning, middle and an end with a note and an instrument to reflect each element of that story.

Mark has just released a new EP, ‘Michelle Syndrome’, which reflects on the need and appreciation for achieving what you want in life, moving onward and not being afraid to bring others on board for the ride. In turn, this has also become Mark’s primary purpose: to achieve expanding upon a career for his artistic endeavours and gain a greater appreciation of the world by exploring it through his music. Mark is currently seeking out management, publicity and record etc… opportunities to branch out with his music whilst working hard on his music and developing a greater emphasis on delivering his driving live performances.

Mark began writing music at a young age but could only really start translating his emotions and ideas into a tangible song when he first picked up the guitar at 14. He produced his first EP back in 2005 in his father's, Gary Lock, studio. It was a learning curve, using an Atari, Cubase version 1.0, and outboard equipment and DAT tapes but it led him to discover a love of technology and production. Mark left home at 16 and returned to the Southeast of England to study music technology and has since studied the last 4 years in music technology, production and interactive media production to degree level, has played in various bands and has been praised by his peers for his particular strength for composition and arrangement. These influences have really shown him a world of different music and have given him the skills and to let his mind wander freely in creating interesting music.

As mentioned above, Mark is currently seeking management and publicity to help shape his business plan, career development and greater exposure to a larger fan base so that he can primarily focus on getting the most out of music and giving his best to a wider audience. In the meantime Mark is currently working on marketing his works himself, in live and on digital mediums to spread further awareness.

Mark doesn’t want to miss the opportunity of giving the magic of emotional involvement, happiness and soothing of music to others. Mark strongly believes that his ambition, time and effort and bringing others along for the ride are the key to succeeding in expressing his passion for the music business, sound and the emotional involvement of an audience around the world.
