Bio

Mark Lotterman kick started his career in 2001, accompanied on his first tour by Simon Vinkenoog; a famous Dutch beat poet. Mark and his band played, Vinkenoog recited his poems. Their collaboration ended in 2005 and Mark moved to Amsterdam, starting the writing process for his first album "Pain & Entertainment". The album was released late 2007. On the album Mark sings a drum 'n bass duet with Johnny Dowd (USA), the American master of alternative Country-Blues. Mark met Johnny on a party in a small Dutch town called Zoetermeer. From 2006 onwards Mark and his band played several nights as Johnny's support-act. In addition, Mark and his band also played as opening act for Canned Heat. After the release of “Pain & Entertainment Mark moved to Mijnsheerenland (situated near Rotterdam) where he started writing his second album: "Better things to Do" (released in 2009). In 2009 and 2010 Mark toured with one of the biggest Dutch bands de Dijk and Canadian songwriter Wax Mannequin. He also played guitar with Jim White on the famous Crossing Border Festival. In 2011 Mark and his (new) band were invited to record a new album with producer Frans Hagenaars, founder of the famous Excelsior label. Mark's songs are well known for their variety of styles (country, rock, electro and ska) and their absurd storytelling lyrics. His lyrics are moving, funny and sad. His live performances are known for their improvisation and expression. The year 2012 will bring him all over Europe, as he will be touring with his new band and promoting his new record!
