Marklyn

From playing acoustic guitar while hitchhiking across New Zealand, to rock and roll with True Tale in Southern California nightclubs, from buying and playing a classical guitar in Spain, to the surf rock instrumental sounds of Dude, from the rhythm section of the Loma Linda Jazz Orchestra, to the party closing sounds of the Wildberrys, Marklyn continues on a musical travelogue, making up the soundtrack along the way. Currently Marklyn is working to cover funky rhythmic complexities in a solo acoustic guitar format. The challenge of working in the more exposed solo setting while pushing the acoustic format is enjoyable. This also gives Marklyn a chance to highlight his songwriting and play choice covers, sometime including multi-layered loops, played and recorded live. After the great response to the song Coolgroove in the surf movie "On Safari Again", --Steve Clevland, the movie's producer said "Thanks, Marklyn, your music made my movie better." --- Marklyn went to work recording an album's worth of multi-layered acoustic instrumental surf music. That music can be found on "Beach Days", recently released on MR Records.
