"It's been some years that I follow Mark Mandeville, since the times of the acoustic folk noir band The Accident That Led Me To The World. This is his second record under his own name and the first to include electric instruments as guitars, bass and drumkit. The results are awesome. Country songs sounding like Nashville but keeping the insurgent touch and a perfect voice that remains the earliest Ryan Adams works. One of the records that has been with me over the last months" - Pecan Pie

Cool genuine organic pop music played with traditional instruments. Although Mark Mandeville's music is probably best described as Americana pop, such a generalization somehow seems a bit limiting. So it would perhaps be more appropriate to say that this man simply makes good simple direct music without all the pretentious excesses that ruin so many modern recording artists' music. Mandeville combines threads of folk, pop, blues, country, and bluegrass into his tunes...always keeping vocal melodies and lyrics at the forefront. This is one classy album housed in a beautifully designed digipak sleeve complete with accompanying lyric sheet. Eleven heartfelt tunes here including "Land of Plenty," "Diggin' Me A Hole," "No More Feeling," and "Sleep When You're Dead." - Babysue

"Artistically, Mandeville has taken a great big bite out of a difficult genre. It’s not easy to play this style of music and bring something new to the table without throwing the table out entirely. In this case, Mandeville should consider this album to be quite the success. His dedication to the spirit of the music never wanes..." - Groove Sandwich

"Mandeville has proven to be a master of gentle meditative nuances that captivate numerous audiences. His seven-piece group, Old Constitution, hits the right notes, captures the right feeling, and uses the right textures." - The Noise, Boston MA

"New England duo Mark Mandeville and Rianne Richards are joined here by a fine bunch of players to form Old Constitution and to deliver a neat little set of well-penned and very attractive country tinged numbers." - Americana UK

Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards are a folk duo from Massachusetts who sing songs which resonate with the lover of Americana and old country music, commanding familiar traditional melodies and poignant, introspective lyrics, and backing them with delicate arrangements on ukulele, clarinet, guitar and banjo. They began in the basements, coffee shops and art spaces of New England, and have since tested the stages of more traditional folk music venues, colleges, living rooms and bar rooms from Boston to Austin, Denver to Nashville, Asheville to Portland, and back 'round again. Hundreds of concerts have been given and thousands of records have been sold, all on their own steam and without the support of major industry assistance. Over the years, Mandeville & Richards have shared the stage with acts like John Gorka, Joan Osborne, Mustard's Retreat, Antje Duvekot, The Low Anthem, David Wax Museum and Brownbird.

Mandeville and Richards are co-founders of the Massachusetts Walking Tour - promoting local music, arts and culture on foot, scheduled for June 15-24 2012.
