"Mark Monaco - Alternate Frequency"

by Hornet Man (Jeff Hightower) for Nashvillerock.net.

Somewhere on the road between Nashville and San Antonio your going to see a sign that says “Live Tonight – Mark Monaco”. The reason I know this is because Mark Monaco is the future of country music. After listening to his latest album “Alternate Frequency” there is no doubt that he draws the line that separates the boys from the true bad-asses in music.

"Mark Monaco – "The American Highway""

Throughout my career with or without the group "YES," I have always attempted to listen to as much music by new artists as possible. As often as not, after hearing a couple of tracks, most of those albums are filed and forgotten. However, sometimes you find a gem. This year it was from Texas and the artist was Mark Monaco with his self-produced debut album "The American Highway." It’s essential for a songwriter to explore, write and share with an audience his life’s experiences. Lyrically Mark paints portraits of relationships, his emotions and drives you in a pickup truck on a journey clear across Texas to the streets of Hollywood. It takes guts to keep the production on a record simple, bare bones, with great vocals and a good band and let the songs speak for themselves. He accomplished that in spades. Guts! What else do you expect from a young guy from Texas? See you on the road Mark.

Mark Monaco is one of the best performers in Texas. His high-energy shows and brand of country rock are truly unique and genuine. No one walks away from a Mark Monaco show with any doubt that what they had just witnessed was a guy and a band who gave it their all. - Texas Music Times

Bio

Drive out to your local dance hall or hole-in-the-wall bar on any given Saturday night in Texas and it’s just the sort of place you might find Mark Monaco and his spirited roadhouse band. They’ll be rocking out like they’re playing The Garden, throwin’ back a few beers, and sweating like they just ran a marathon. But don’t be alarmed, it’s just another day at the office for this group whose live sets typically span three hours straight.
Ripping through three album’s worth of hard-hitting country originals like Shine, Wild In Texas, Time for This Cowboy to Run, and The American Highway, Monaco reaches out to his audience as if he's leading a small-town tent revival and creates an uproarious response in nearly every venue in which they perform.
Mark Monaco has been applying his craft most of his life. He attended Nashville’s renowned Music Business School at Belmont University and interned at MCA Records on Music Row at age 19. He later earned a Business Marketing Degree from Texas Tech University in 2001 and released his first album, the critically acclaimed American Highway, shortly thereafter. Monaco, who does all the writing and producing on his albums, has continued to tour throughout Texas and the South, building a loyal following and invaluable radio support on both American Highway and its follow-up, Alternate Frequency, landing him on the Texas Music and Music Review charts.
Now with the release of his third studio album, Overdrive, Monaco is poised to take his music to a broader audience. “I feel like everything is finally coming together,” says Monaco. “My writing has improved, my band line-up is the best it's ever been, and people that haven’t been exposed to my music in the past are starting to take notice. I’m ready for the next stage.”
