Another Sunrise

Written By: Mark Robinson

Another Sunrise

From those early footprints in the sand, through all the years you held my hand
In this darkest hour I understand, why you had to go
I tried to show how much I care; I know that life was hard to bear
Now I see you everywhere, you are all I know
In all of this uncertainty
I somehow know that you are free
I can see you now, running with the wind

CHORUS:

In my dreams there will always be another sunrise
Another day when the love will shine from your eyes
Another time when we will share all the beauty that you see
In my heart, you will always be with me

All the stories that you told, from boyhood days so long ago
Though I’ve heard them all before you know, they are always in my heart
I long to hear your voice again, telling me those tales of when
The sunshine was your dearest friend, and you slept beneath the stars
And every river you have crossed
And every road where we got lost
Are simply golden memories for me

CHORUS

I will always keep you near; I’ll take you with me through the years
When I think of you I’ll laugh more than I’ll ever shed a tear
And every beach I’ll walk with you, and every day I’ll talk with you
I’ll tell you all my stories too, if you lend a willing ear
And someday in another land,
We’ll stand together, hand in hand
And once again go running with the wind

CHORUS

And every night, you’ll always be the first name in my prayers
And I’ll thank the Lord for the love that we have shared

CHORUS

Repeat chorus but end:

Another time when we will share all this beauty that I see
In my heart you will always be with me
In my heart you will always be with me

Peace on Christmas Day

Peace on Christmas Day

We called him Hans, we didn't know his name
He held the white flag high
He walked out alone on the battlefield
In the early morning light
The sun was rising behind their lines
It didn't feel like Christmas day
In his other hand he held a ball
And he he cried "Do you want to Play?"

Th men behind him began to rise
They held their arms out wide
I felt the tears well in my eyes
A warmth down deep inside
The man next door put his rifle down
And he turned to me and said
"I'm going up there to join them, boy",
"Tomorrow we may all be dead"

And we played football with the Germans; no-one kept the score
Though both sides could claim victory, it didn't matter anymore
If I could see my friend again, I wonder what I'd say?
Most of all I would recall we had Peace on Christmas Day

Last night I heard them singing as the winter wind blew cold
"Stille Nacht" and many other
Christmas songs of old
Then I knew that we were the same,
And it made me want to cry
Why is it we stand in line
And wait our turn to die?

Hans patted me upon the cheek
I saw his blue eyes smile
"You did your best there, English boy";
"But I beat you by a mile"
I slapped his back as he walked away
That memory's still so strong
And every time I remember it
I know that war is wrong

And we played football with the Germans; no-one kept the score
Though both sides could claim victory, it didn't matter anymore
If I could see my friend again, I wonder what I'd say?
Most of all I would recall we had Peace on Christmas Day

That afternoon the leaders put an end to all our games
The screaming shell scame crashing down and left the battlefield in flames
I never did see Hans again; I pray he did grow old
So somewhere in some German town this story can be told

And we played football with the Germans; no-one kept the score
Though both sides could claim victory, it didn't matter anymore
If I could see my friend again, I wonder what I'd say?
Most of all I would recall we had Peace on Christmas Day

...most of all I would recall we had Peace on Christmas Day
