Moon Shine Groove (2013)

Hailing from New York this rock and roots based band is a rampant mix of sound and style with a vintage spirit.

Marks and Townsend’s debut album Moon Shine Groove displays traces of funk, folk, reggae, blues, and soul. Unyielding vocals and beatnik harmonies are the forefront to songs with gritty riffs and dripping hooks.

The album is a collection of new collaborations and reprised tracks performed and recorded by Ryan Marks and Ryan Townsend. Drummer/percussionist Seth Moutal and saxophonist Matt Wayne help round out the record with a landscape of rhythms and melodies that capture the senses and imagination.

Marks and Townsend first worked with Moutal in 2008 to produce songs for the soundtrack to the Lionsgate feature film Living Will. M&T’s original music has also been featured on various national television and radio syndicates.

Individually, they have opened for artists such as The Allmans Brothers, Levon Helm, Jimi Herring, Questlove, Primus, Leo Nocentelli and Donna Jean Goodeux.

The have performed and shared the stage at notable venues such as Brooklyn Bowl (NY), Highline Ballroom (NY), Rockwood Music Hall (NY), Hammerstein Ballroom (NY), Nassau Coliseum (NY), Philadelphia Spectrum (PA), and Toads Place (CT). Also, appearing at festivals like Mountain Jam, Gathering of the Vibes, and the Midnight Ramble.

Marks and Townsend are currently performing in and around New York City both acoustically and with a full line up.
