Bio

It began in 2001 with Randy Davis, Jordan Foust, and Dustin Carmichael. Joining together through a guitar teacher they met at ages 13-14 and played in their first band together for about 3 years before they disbanded. Dustin and Jordan went with another band as did Randy, to grow as musicians and learn the ways of the bar scenes. Things didn’t work out and the three rejoined 2 years later to make Marks Of Sin.

Marks Of Sin was born in the summer of 2006 by Randy Davis, co. guitarist Stefan Rotunno and singer Derik Brunsfeld with 22 originals. Jordan on bass and Dustin on drums joined when they heard the sounds and after the first jam session realized the potential of the combination of the different influences they each had. They had created a sludgy, thrash sound that had not been heard with bluesy bass lines underneath the complex yet simple guitars, with sporadic drums. They played a long line of shows together until October of 2007 with a lineup change of disbanding Stefan, and Derik. The three from the beginning found new singer Derek George a week later. Derek had taken the sound to an extreme level stepping up the shows and the overall performance of the 4 piece group. Derek George had been singing for 13 years when we met him, now 29, he has the real life experience to sing about simply real life, compared to young singers that don’t know what the hell their talking about. The other members now all 21 and 22 have the show experience as well.

With the release of their first effort in early 2008, Under the Influence, a 9 song self released album. Least to say, Marks Of Sin hit the bars hard. Playing all over the Ohio Tri-State area almost every weekend for the next two years developing an extreme show that did not beat around the bush. Head banging, foot stomping, guitar punishing and just the music, showed up all the bands that have played with us. During all the shows they had created a new albums worth of material for the second album, Homegrown Hatred, with 14 songs showing a stronger more diverse sound to each song. Soon to be professionally released in July by an independent label, Dissected Angel Records, in Columbus. Still playing shows we are stronger that ever and still growing to be ahead of the scene.
