Biography

Between the breaths in a hushed vocal, in the air that floats across the strings of a guitar, in the translucent spaces that echo the notes of a piano: this is where the songs of Mark Steven Thurman exist. It is the sound of live musicians on acoustic instruments surrounding Thurman's burnished, confiding voice. With his collection of songs, Rhythm of Grace, the singer/songwriter introduces an eloquent artistry that traces corridors of deep spirituality and joyous resolve. These narratives are subtle but profound, spiritual but not preachy, as they illuminate indelible lifelines of love, dreams, tribulation and vindication. Thurman has co-written with Universal/Republic Artist Tyrone Wells. "Wondering Where You Are," recorded by Wells on his Snapshot CD, has been heard multiple times on network television and cable shows.
"I have seen many trails and tribulations in my life," notes Thurman. " There were times I thought I would not make it, but God is faithful to His promises. At this point in my life I don't think anyone could say to me, 'You don't understand what I'm going through.' Because I've been there." It is that reflective empathy that illuminates the gift of the Creator, celebrates the spirit of the songs, and marks a journey of faith through the seasons of life. With gorgeous, understated melodies and powerful, poignant themes, Mark Steven Thurman shares the love with Rhythm of Grace
