The best kept secret in music

"Events: Crowds Pack venues; Palmer gets 'em dancing."

Saskatoon's resident jazz club, The Bassment, was the place to be on Saturday night to hear big sound in a small (though uncomfortably hot) space.

First to perform was Saskatoon's Mark Zielke trio, who added a few Edmonton members to become a quintet for the night.

The unassuming young musicians, that could just as easily be pictured in a garage rock band, played a set of funked-up jazz with a healthy dose of rock.
the audience - save for one loud gentleman who insisted on talking about hangovers - quietly soaked up music that was variably lively, mellow and sexy.

Zielke set the stage for Kellylee Evans, Richard Underhill and David Braid, all of whom were nominated for Junos. - Star Phoenix

What people are saying about Mark Zielke and the Valentine's Day Special:

'We were very pleased to supply both these fine artists with our Amplifiers at their JunoFest concerts. Mark's guitarists were just killer, and complimented the amps wonderfully. The Valentine Boys were sweet !!!' ~ Doug Cole from RokDog Amps

'I was waiting in line just outside the venue when they started, and you could hear the music coming through the floor. People were dancing even outside in the queue and a few even came up [from the venue] to inform us of what we were missing down there.' ~ Kyle Krysa, musician

'Last night was just four bands up there playing standards. You guys came down tonight and shook the place up. Definitely a breath of fresh air.' ~ soundman regarding JunoFest show
