Marlies

Marlies has been writing songs since the age of eleven. She would perform them in front of her family and friends and schoolmates. In 99 she met Mattias Vos and together they formed a punkband named Last Picked. After a year of punkrock they decided to move out to Leuven together and start a new project. It took them a while to find the right musicians. Meanwhile Marlies was doing some backing vocals on different punk and rockprojects in Belgium. In 2003 she founded the band Starfucker. A rocking punkband with two girls and two boys playing loud! They started playing every club in the country and won several competitions. In 2005 producer Ronald Prent (rammstein, guano apes, faith no more etc) heard of the band and started working with the band in order to get them to play more pro. At this point the band is ready to record their first album and looking around for a label to put it outthere.

In the meanwhile Marlies ran into Walter Mannaerts, a professional songwriter published by BMG/Sony Belgium. He liked the things she was writing and got her into some songwritingsessions. She co-wrote on the album of Nell, and the first single is one of those songs. Marlies is currently working on other songwritingprojects for Belgian artists.

Marlies has lately written a lot of slower, softer and poppier songs and has therefor started her own project that is (for now) called Marlies and The Hats. (www.myspace.com/marliesandthehats), the recordings will be up soon.
