Bio

Marlon Epps, better known as “Marlo”, was born April 17, 1990 in Chicago, Illinois. His interest in music began at the early age of five years old, as he found himself singing along (word for word) with the songs of “Biggie Smalls and Tupac Shakur”, and subsequently replacing their lyrics with his own. Deeming himself as a natural, Marlon began to write and rap. Growing more and more passionate about his gift, at the age of 15, he decided to pursue his talents (as both a writer and entertainer) and began working with his uncle whom at the time had his own record label. Unfortunately, before they got a chance to work together his uncle was fatally gunned down. This misfortune, though mind shattering, increased Marlon’s determination to develop his talent and educate himself about the business. He continued to write, began purchasing equipment as needed and ultimately began rapping and performing in local venues, recording every chance he got. As an artist, Marlon brings a new sound to the industry. His music consists of catchy hooks and punch line versus. His style came be compared to that of Lil Wayne; mixed with the realness of Jeezy, “with a twist”. Marlon’s music has been known to bring the crowd to their feet, having a good time, as he witness repeatedly during his performances as the crowd dances along. He is the type of artist that draws you in the minute you hear his voice over a track you. Marlon’s performance will capture and hold the attention of a crowd as he makes them visualize the things he raps about. Marlon’s ability to promote himself sparks interest in Marlo the artist as well as Marlon the person. Marlon is a great artists as well as a professional one. He has come a long way from recording his own music at home with a $30 dollar microphone. With performances at the Kleo Center , where Marlon often performs, the owner says, “Marlo puts on a show every time, whether there are 100 or 10 people in the building”. The Spoken Word Café, where the host says, “I’m going to need some energy in the building, Marlo where you at”. He makes appearances at a few other venues such as Vaughn’s, Ossie’s, The Back to School Jam, The All Stars Talent Show and more.
