Marly DuMarz was raised by his Grandparents in a Jamaican household, in Alexandria, Virginia. During that time his grandparents were his primary caretakers, and their Jamaican roots have been a huge influence on him and his music. Marly's father was a popular deejay in the DMV, and would rock parties all throughout town. Meanwhile, Marly was at home familiarizing himself with his father's selection of music and equipment. This was the foundation for one of the most talented ARTIST in the game today. Combined with his mother's love for good, soulful music, Marly has become the perfect mix of musical talent. Going back and forth between the households gave him a lot of different musical perspectives. The most important being to love making good music, more than the success that may come with it. That is what sets him apart from the typical artist today. The music is always first. He is unwilling to sell himself short for commercial success. Marly has been compared to the likes of B.O.B, Andre 3000, Mos Def, and Kanye West, all the way to John Legend. His ability to transition seamlessly from rap, to soulful r&b, and even to reggae within the same breath is a skilled that is seemingly impossible until you hear it for yourself!
Ever since stealing his uncle's Stankonia cd, he knew music was what he was meant to do. Marly's musical influences include a wide variety of aritst, which explains his versatility. Artist such as, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind and Fire, CL Smooth, Mos Def, Common, Tupac, Biggie, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Kanye West, The Roots, the list goes on and on.
Marly is on a journey to be successful through music and acting. He wants to feed his family , and keep it all under God.
