Bio

Marshall was born and raised in Lake Travis, Texas (a city right outside of the infamous Austin, Texas). His youth was filled enjoying the hill country, both on on the lake and off it. From an early age, like many, music struck a chord within him. While still a young child, he would play SRV's version of "Little Wing" on repeat, over and over again.. absorbing the music into his brain, like a sponge. As he grew, he strayed away from his roots and fell into the more modern, beat driven, lyrical form of music commonly called hip hop. There he stayed for years, until his 8th year of schooling where he discovered the art of screaming. Some call it a senseless art.. but to him, it was beautiful. raw emotion. It was around that time he decided to pick up the guitar, driven by his wonderful Aunt Wendy who gave him a couple months worth of lessons. He began recording his freshman year of high school, and by late sophomore year, had 40 + recordings of original material, plus many other unrecorded tracks. Still no one knew he could sing. He finally came out of his shell sometime junior year, and formed his first band: Spectrum. After a few months, and some lineup changes, it was transformed into DOG AT LARGE. They gigged around austin, their most notable performance opening up for the ARC Angels at Antone's two nights in a row. Graduation came, and the members went their seperate ways. Since then, Marshall has been attending the Austin Live Music Academy, and diligently working on new material.

Marshall & The Moon Dance is his latest project. A fusion of country, mixed with the stylings he grew up listening to (and loving): rock, reggae, hip hop, funk, r&b, soul, and don't forget the blues.

With Marshall & The Moon Dance, you will find something you connect with.

"You cannot base your musical tastes off of 'genres'. There is bad music. And there is good music. I choose the latter." - Marshall Witte
