Bio

From 1970 to 1985, Marshall Styler recorded and toured with renowned Rochester N.Y. band, Duke Jupiter(.com). The band released seven albums on Mercury, Epic-CBS, and Motown labels, and toured with acts such as REO Speedwagon, Blue Oyster Cult, Huey Lewis, Foreigner, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Duke Jupiter also had videos on the newly created MTV and VH1. Even though the band had and still has a large following, they never scored a major hit. By 1985 Marshall grew tired of the rock-n-roll life and decided to leave the band and move from N.Y. to Austin, Tx. Although Marshall was the lead singer and songwriter for the band, he felt limited by lyrics, and began writing instrumental pieces. In 1991 Marshall released his first instrumental album, Camden Road. It is a compilation of live performances on synthesizers. Although the album was largely experimental, it solidified the new direction with Marshall's music. Between 1993 and 1998 Marshall recorded three albums that would become the Red River Trilogy. This collection, Bluefield, Mockingbird Station, and Red River Crossing, represent Marshall's impressions of the people and places in the Hill Country of Central Texas that he had grown to love. The Trilogy was followed by Jericho in 2002, The Twilight Concertos in 2005, and most recently, A Face In The Clouds, in 2007. "I consider myself an impressionist in the spirit of the French Impressionist painters, Degas, Monet, and Renoir. With color and emotion they created a powerful elegance that I strive for in my music." - Marshall Styler
