"Marston Moor: 'We hope we'll touch people'"

Marston Moor, from La Roche-sur-Yon, that has already made two auto-produced discs, will play tonite at 11.15pm. Three questions to its vocalist-guitarist, Ron Wylde Moor.

Ron, could you describe your music?
Let's say we're playing some emo alternative rock, that's neither into metal, nor into pop, but rather into both. Our main influences are located in indie rock, mostly all 90's bands, such as Smashing Pumpkins. But also our sound comes a bit from Sacandinavian electro. This last one is more felt since the arrival of our keyboardist.

A dark universe so...
Yes, our universe is rather dark, but because it also emphasizes a will change from the world that surrounds us. We pay attention particularly on lyrics, even if they're in English. They focus on our feelings, regarding our society. That's a kind of discrete critics, using lots of metaphores and images. And there are also some love songs, but mostly dead loves.

What do you expect from a date like this one in Les Sables d'Olonne?
We really like to adapt our shows relatively to the audience. In Les Sables, we'll play a calmer and more affordable set-list than for a rock festival. We hope people will like it, and that we'll touch some people. Moreover, we'll play on a big stage, with great organisation. And we'll be able to meet some pros. Contacts are always good to be taken for our future.

"Marston Moor: 'Fading Roses'"

First album for Marston Moor! 8 autoproduced tracks, recorded at home by Ron, guitarist and vocalist, for a convincing result! They had been waiting for this disc for a while. Besides, we can find on it some titles from their former demo. The trio clearly set of the bottle, compos became refined, hardened and ring in a really effective way. We still feel the underlying influences (Placebo, Muse) but Marston Moor proposes us here its own vision of things, with a real personality. It is melodious, it rocks, very good breaks are in place, with some samples and skilfully measured effects, a sound more than correct for a home-made disk and the voice of Ron which got more mature and emotional... Frankly, ' Fading Roses ' is a very pleasant surprise, which reserves its lot of hits! Ron to buy it, there are only 300 copies!

- GLU - January 07
