Bio
Martin and Wing Man have created something unique and beautiful. Martin Klabunde is an author, a speaker, and an international musician. He has spent the last 25 years traveling to Africa and Mexico where he studied with initiated drum masters and indigenous healers. Martin is a professional musician and one of a handful of Certified Professors of the Djembe at Mamady Keita’s Tam Tam Mandengue International School of Djembe. In addition to drumming, Martin has also achieved excellence in playing the adungu (bowl harp from Uganda), the akogo (thumb piano from Uganda), and the Australian didgeridoo.
A native of Hong Kong, Wing Man came to the United States to pursue a doctoral degree in psychology. Her dissertation, titled "An Analogue Study of Loving-Kindness Meditation as a Buffer against Social Stress,” examined the benefits of loving kindness meditation in social relationships. Having completed her dissertation, Wing Man graduated with a Ph.D. from The University of Arizona in 2011.
Wing Man plays a variety of instruments including the bass adungu (bowl harp from Uganda), the akogo (thumb piano from Uganda), and the djembe. She has performed in a variety of venues from performance theaters to yoga studios and ashrams. Blessed with a tranquil and soothing voice, Wing Man also guides the meditation on the Loving Kindness Metta CD and sings on the music CD, From the Heart.
As multi-instrumentalists and a prolific musicians, they have produced five music CD's and three meditation CD's.
Inspired by a variety of indigenous cultures as well as their own personal experience, their concerts, workshops, events and retreats weave together music, storytelling, hands-on drumming and powerful activities that create an entertaining, educational, inspiring and transformational experience.
