Bio
Marty Metcalf began picking an acoustic guitar in 1968 and eventually played guitar for the bands; Sausalito, Spectrum, MIT, The Push, Kilgore Trout and Martin & Tharp as well as solo acoustic work.
He left the road to raise a family and focused on playing Classical guitar. Now, after 10 years he has begun to record and to resurface into the world of performance once again. His extraordinary playing skills have been featured at several venues in the Salt Lake Area including: Stein Ericksen Lodge, Taliskers, The Perry Hotel and The Park Silly Market.
Marty's guitar playing is powerful, intriguing, masterful and moving. When the night is over you'll travelled around the world with works by: Heitor Villa-Lobos, Francisco Tárrega, Agustín Barrios Mangoré, Isaac Albeniz, Andrew York, Andrew York, Mason Williams, Enrique Granados, Satie, F. Moreno-Torroba, Fernando Sor, Napoleon Coste, Laurindo Almeida, J.S Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Frederic Chopin, Luiz Bonfá, Manuel M. Ponce, Jorge Morel, Carlo Domeniconi and more.
Marty's current venture is into the world of jazz. Stay tuned for more on this new move.
