Purtill has been crooning his way into the hearts of area fans since late 1999, when he formed the popular local band "All the Wrong People" with long time friend Lee Madeloni. Artist Review - Martin Purtill in Mid Town Sacto
If you are ever near the neo-clectic burger joint called Hamburger Patties in Midtown Sacramento, try to check out an excellent singer/songwriter named Martin Purtill.

I have seen Martin play there a few times and the confines are warm and comfortable - just like Martin’s vocal stylings and songs. I could be at the Hamburger Patties or sitting in my living room, either way Martin Purtill has a presence that puts his audience at ease and leads them into relaxing moment-in-time.

You can check out Martin Purtill on his website at www. myspace. com/shecantknow and get a sampling of song that draw your ear. His song’s and vibe would be the perfect compliment to a movie soundtrack featuring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft...

Seriously though, Martin Purtill’s music inspire’s me to think, feel and believe - checking out one of his show’s is the perfect way to spend a late, lazy Sunday afternoon in NorCal.

Lyrics

The Harbinger

Written By: Martin Purtill

Wait now timeout,
I looked at the wrong and carried it over.
Stayed strong when she
said to me
Father dont cry,
'Cause when I arrive we'll start our adventure.
Why are all free,
except for me
'Cause I'm...

[Chorus]
Carried by the coming rain.
Varied by this heavy strain.
Carried by the coming rain.

Patience she said,
Even before the day that I meet her.
One may run round, but I stand my ground.
Could I have been
Asking for what I'm singing you now
And in this frame,
do I still remain?
'Cause I'm...

[Chorus]
Carried by the coming rain.
Varied by this heavy strain.
Carried by the coming rain.

That summer it seemed so cold
Yes I remember
Whether or not I showed,
I watched every moment come down
Hell bound
When we're together
I found
I kept every moment alive.

Almost A Shame

Written By: Martin Purtill

It's far too late,
For me to ask you a second time
Open your arms,
And feel all those songs where I came to find my love for you.

I opened my window
And let you in simple
And over time you had enough of both of us
And gave it all to another kind.

[Chorus]
You had us in your hands
We were not a part of your plan
I'm careful what I say to her
'Cause she has just begun
To feel you gone.

Painting that way
And feeling the wake of empty space.
Feeding the mouth
That keeps feeding me more and it makes me feel like I can't swallow.

Seeking a friend
To never have to speak of
All of our days and all of our nights It's almost a shame.
It's almost...

[Chorus]
You had us in your hands
We were not a part of your plan
I'm careful what I say to her
'Cause she has just begun
To feel you gone.
