Feeling a bit camera shy

Marti was born in 1964 in California and grew up on Aretha Franklin and The Eagles. She began performing as a solo act in the early '80's in bars around L.A. until the D.J.'s took over all the cool live music venues. After a bit, she found herself in a 4 piece rock band in the midwest, opening for greats from Syd Straw (formerly of the Scarecrows) to Susan Shore (formerly of Bell and Shore).

Marti's influences read like a benefit concert line-up. From Springsteen to The Carpenters and Wynnona Judd to Melissa Etheridge, Marti seems to set herself apart from other singer-songwriters by being able to go from a grass-roots country ballad to an alternative rock tune without missing a beat.

For the past 10 years, Marti has been playing with a group, formerly "Hardly Sisters," who occasionally perfomed as "Hardly Marti," just to eventually drop the "hardly" and continue on as "Marti Stevens."

Together with Moss, Lisa and Leslie, these 4 voices create some of the most neat harmonies heard locally in a long time.
