Just wait til you hear Jamaican-born artiste, Oral Kevin Campbell, pka Marvelus, in the studio. The producer puts on a track - he's really excited, he just made it last night - and by the time the rhythm is done, Marvelus has laid down some serious lyrics... with structure, rhymes and storyline. Asked when his musical career started his answer is “When babies are born crying, I was born singing“. But don’t think you know him after one track because the second he finishes a sexy serenade he’ll spit lyrics so hard he’s got the dance floor burnin’ up. His versatility comes from a life full of change and a vivid imagination required to manage the streets of Jamaica.

He’s the first born of ten children to mother Hyacinth Campbell-Foster. Originally from Thompson town, Clarendon, he skipped from place to place as a youth and developed a passion for politics the more he learned and felt the impact of the system. He left for the Cayman Islands at 17. While there, he worked in the tourism industry and had the opportunity to meet people from all over the globe. The international exposure helped shape his lyrical content and even the clarity in his delivery. He signed a 3-year contract with a Cayman label a few years ago but a dispute between producers left him with an album recorded, a couple songs released yet unable to move forward with it. His musical experience in Cayman also included opening acts for artistes such as Maxi Priest, Shaggy, Tanya Stephens and Freddie McGregor to name a few.

Although he moved to Canada to pursue his musical career with a fresh outlook, the freestyle lyricist was drawn back to his roots in late 2006, to ride the beat-driven vibes of Jamaica and work on his new album. He’s back in Vancouver, started his own record company with wife Melissa and is calling the shots on his upcoming album. To relax, Marvelus enjoys cooking, sipping red wine, fishing, and spending the day at the beach with his 2 daughters.
