The music consits of Rock-pop influenced instrumentals, with soulful versitile vocals. I like to add my own flavour and make things sound a bit different, than what one may expect. Sometimes a little touch of crazyness can make the song sound completely different! ;-')

Biography

Matthew was born in Frankfurt, Germany, of American parents. His father is solo trumpet in the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra, hence his musical beginnings, perhaps. Matthew started private piano lessons when he was barely five years old. At the age of 13 he started to write his own songs and had his first recording studio experiences. At age 15 he began with vocal coaching which was a turning point for him. This is when he decided to strive to become a well known singer and songwriter. In the same year, he had his first CD release . When he was 18 he taught the high school Pop choir more than the designated professional teacher did. He also had the major role of Sky Masterson in the high school musical, “Guys and Dolls.” Upon graduation from high school he auditioned for Berklee School of Music in Boston and was accepted, but a few months later decided not to attend because his musical career was just taking off. He signed a contract with BMG/RCA and his group “Fusion” brought out their first single. “China in Your Hand” was released in 1999. Matthew wrote the lyrics, composed the music, and coached the group of two girls and two boys. It landed in the Top 30 of the German Media Control Charts and sold over 100,000 copies. The next single, “You Make Me Feel” was also composed by Matthew in cooperation with Roberto Rosan, the producer of the very successful group, “Sweet Box.” In total, Matthew wrote eight of the 12 songs on Fusion’s album, “InFusion One.” The group filmed two videos for “China in Your Hand” and “You Make Me Feel”, which were shown many times on the VIVA television music channel.

Although “Fusion” disbanded in 2000, this was no reason for Matthew to stop his musical career. Determined to show the world the deep feeling he has when he sings, he went solo and hooked up with the producer Thorsten Stenzel. This brought about some new avenues to explore musically, and together with the popular Swiss DJ Tatana, he had many successful hits on the Swiss Hit Parade. “More Than Words” was the official Hymn of the Street Parade 1999 in Switzerland. This was followed by a Gold award for the Top 10 Tatana Hit “Words” (2002), and then the Top 20 Hit, “Moments” in 2003. “Words” and “Moments” also had videos produced that were broadcast on the Swiss television music channel.

Today, Matthew is on the way to becoming a top singer and songwriter. His songs have received honorable mention in the ISC songrwriting competition, 2004. And currently, his song “Inhale, Exhale” is in the finals of the ISC songwriting competition, 2007. Another one of his songs, “Drive So Far” is being performed by the up-and-coming EMI boy group “Partsix” (www.partsix.de).

The goal that Matthew has set for this new year of 2007 is to not only write more hit songs, but perform them, also.

On Your Way

On Your Way

Verse 1:
If something’s on you mind,
Then you can let it out
I’ll take you in my arms,
I know what you’re about:
What other’s just can’t see.
Beyond your deep blue eyes
I feel your tenderness,
Surrender this,

Chorus:
‘cause I’m tellin’ you why
I wanna be with you
‘cause everywhere you go,
I’m gonna know,
You’re on your way.

Verse 2:
It’s just another day,
And now I realize
There’s so much more to you,
Your touch is a surprise.
The way you change the time
The way your body talks.
It’s all your tenderness,
Surrender this.

C-Part:
And when I wake up,
So late at night
And hold your picture in my hand.
That’s when I know you’re gonna be alright,
‘cause in my heart you’re gonna live
so maybe I will understand.

Verse 3:
If something’s on your mind,
Then you can let it out
I’ll take you in my arms,
I know what you’re about:
What other’s just don’t see.
Beyond your deep blue eyes
Is all your tenderness,
Surrender this,

Keeping Me Alive

Keeping Me Alive

Verse 1:
If someone asks you,
Just how you feel.
Then deep inside
You know what is real.
And all that it’s about
Is the love you’re feeling deep inside,
You don’t need to hide,

Chorus:
‘cause Baby
I’ll be walking with you
I’ll be talking to you
I’ll be right by your side,
‘cause you’re keeping me alive.

Verse 2:
If someone tells you
(That) life’s a lie.
Then all you’ve gotta do,
Is turn around and fight.
And all that I can say is
You always keep my soul alive
Oh, yes you do.

C-Part:
And everytime you realize
There’s something going on
Inside your life.
Just be strong enough to carry on
With what you’re doing,
as you’re choosing everything.

Drive So Far

Drive So Far

Chorus:
Baby we can make it through these hard, hard times,
If we get in my car and let’s drive ‘gonna drive so far,
‘Gonna drive into the deepest sunset,
‘Gonna show you something you ain’t seen yet.

Verse 1:
I’ve seen people reach up high for their dreams,
Had their heads in the clouds, yes I know how this seems,
Baby please can’t you see what it is
I’m trying to tell you.
I’ve seen so many people on the streets all alone,
Lost all they had, because of a loan,
Didn’t come home, I should have known they’d
Left their wife and children.

Oh, and I never told you,
Why I want to give you,
Everything to show you I care.
And I never gave you,
What then could have changed you,
I’m beggin’ to let me make things better, oh baby

Verse 2:
So many people think I’m crazy ‘cause of what I do,
When I think of you, I get lost in my view,
I don’t know what to do,
I’ve got a crush on you.
I miss that shiny face with the twinkling eyes
And the cute little smile that gets me hypnotized,
You’re like a nice surprise to my life,
And girl I need you, too.

And I may not know you,
But I think that we’ve done pretty good so far,
So show me who you are.

C-Part:
Maybe we can try to do what we ain’t done yet,
Like Romeo and Juliette,
I can give you more than, any other guy can,
‘Cause girl you set my heart on fire, oh baby.
