Bio

Though she learned piano and flute in the years before high school and began playing guitar in 2001, the instrument that Mary Blacklock has carried with her through the years is her voice. A member of several different choirs from childhood to the recent years, Mary loves harmonizing with others as much as her solo work.

Mary ventured out into the solo live music scene during her graduate school years of 2006-2008. She started off sharing her music with her school community in Princeton, NJ. During an internship year in Cincinnati, OH she began sharing her music in traditional venues. When she returned to her school community she was excited to do the same. With the supportive response of classmates, Mary began playing in Princeton area coffee shops and bars with songwriter nights. Mary Blacklock was also a performer for Princeton's Cafe Improv, an open-stage music and arts venue broadcast on the local cable station.

Mary Blacklock now resides in Albuquerque, NM. Since moving to Albuquerque two years ago, she has written two songs inspired by this new location and changes in her life, "Yesterday's Sky" and "Glasses or the Haircut". Mary continues to find the nature and spiritual surroundings of the 505 as a great environment for creativity and her musical composition is ever developing.
