SoloFolkSinger/Songwriter

Sometimes the songs are sad, sometimes they are happy, sometimes the songs are catchy, at other times they are sappy, but no matter what they are real. I try to make music that speaks to not only me, but the people around me. It is them who help me create.

Biography

Mary Brett is a born and bread Texan, yet she is infused with the southern culture of her Alabama family. After moving from her home town of Corpus Christi to the suitcase college town of Huntsville, Texas at the age of 20 she learned how to play the guitar. Thanks to misguided love and the breakups that followed she had plenty of material to start song writing. After receiving two degrees and quitting a big girl job as an outdoor educator she chose to make music her first priority. Her influences range from John Prine, Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, to Sean Hayes, Lisa Hannigan, and Fiona Apple. She continues to reside in Huntsville as a waitress by day and struggling but happy musician by night.
