Lyrics

Edward Allen

Written By: Mary deQuattro

We were friends we were lovers
I saved all my secrets for him
He was alright sometimes
Yet sometimes his rage would begin
And he said that he hated the world and its tactics
And he hated his mother for the way she behaved
And he said he would love me
But we weren't lovers that way
These are the things that he said

I caused him to love sometimes
I caused him to wonder
And although he lived darkness
I saw light in his thunder
But he tried ever so sadly
And he pushed me away
So I left on the train for town

He started drinking too heavy
He started hating everything he found
He slipped into silence
And cut off his speech from my charms
He slept in the subways and he drank himself blind
I would go there to find him and I hoped he'd be fine
But nothing I did would help him change his mind

As he told me he hated me he pushed me away
And it hurt me too badly for me to help or to stay
Still I wish I had done more for his life that day
Instead I jumped on the train for town

That was ten thousand years ago hundreds of miles
And I never can change it turn the clock back just a while
And it drives me half crazy when I dream of the boy
Still I hope someone since helped the man

He gave into hatred he gave up his heart and his friends
And I was too young to realize
He was pushing his life to his end
And I look for him now in subways in alleys
In Salvations Army shelters and lines
It's probably better this way
Miles and miles ago
When I left on the train for town

Now I look for him everywhere
In subways in alleys
In old bars with burnouts
Hard driving rains
It's probably better this way
Keeping it years ago
When I left my heart
And I jumped on the train for town

The Wind

Written By: Mary deQuattro

Every night in the pale moonlight
You’ll find me stuck in the memory of you
All around rumors sound
Whispers tell I knew you well

Wasn’t it the wind, touched you to my memory
Wasn’t it the wind that dropped you in my vacant space
This is my final last embrace

Frequent dreams frozen scenes
Lovers in sights set too high
Sleeping still, rest if you will
Sleep faker- It’s morning not night

Wasn’t it the wind, touched you to my memory
Wasn’t it the wind that dropped you in my lonely way
This is my final last embrace

Fools like me- we don’t get colder
We run and we hide into dreams every time
Fools like me, hearts don’t get older
Fools like me we just go dreamier along
Into love, into love, into love

Simple night, crucial fight
Enter the split-- we knew we were wrong
What fools we are, that we tried this far
Heart shaker on the edge so long

Wasn’t it the wind, touched you to my memory
Wasn’t it the wind the dropped you in my vacant space
This is my final last embrace

Fools like me- we don’t get colder
We run and we hide in dreams every time
Fools like me, hearts don’t get older
Fools like me ..
We just go dreamier along…
Into love, into love, into love

Midnight in my Dreams

Written By: Mary deQuattro

Lost ‘n found girl in town
He won’t let her in
I don’t seem to get around
Not even to begin
She’s a fool still racin’
Told you all those silly things
But I’m never gonna tell
Who’s midnight in my dreams

Whisper in my ear tonight
I guess you’ll have to do
You can hold me very tight
I’m lonely yes it’s true
But I write these things
And I sing my dreams
It makes me as I breathe
But I’m never gonna tell you
Never gonna tell you

Never gonna tell you
I’m blue
Never gonna tell you
I need your love I need your love
You can look right at me ‘with hose eyes piercing through
But I’ll wake away like I do today
Protecting only me
Yes I’m never gonna tell you
Never gonna tell you
Who’s midnight in my dreams

Water on my windowsill
I can watch it bead
I could love just any man
He’s not the man I need
Instead I’m wrapped up and I stand here
Wondering over you
But I’ll never be your fool

Never gonna tell you
I’m blue
Never gonna tell you
I need your love I need your love
You can look right at me ‘with hose eyes piercing blue
But I’ll wake away like I do today
Protecting only me
Yes I’m never gonna tell you
Never gonna tell you
Who’s midnight in my dreams

Mama's Teenage Lullaby

Written By: Mary deQuattro

Baby it’s over
Our man has left too soon
Blue eyes
I’m sorry
What have I done to your moon
He didn’t love me
But he never knew you
If he did
He would have spent every day
‘Til the day that you left here too

Winter is closing in
What will I do with the cold snow
I’ll hold you much warmer
Warmer than he knows
He didn’t love me
But he never knew you
If he did
He would have gave every way
‘Til the day that you left here too

Look at the stars
I see them rising up in your eyes
Blessed be god
You are a gifted child
And I won’t let go
‘Til you tell me too

Baby sleep now
I’ll hold you till you do
Blue eyes I love you
I’ll help you paint your moon
He didn’t love me
But he never knew you
If he did
He would have stayed every day
‘Til the day that you left me too

Crazy No More

Written By: Mary deQuattro

Crazy , i feel blue,
baby's got his hand on me
he's toying with my world

i'm guilty, maybe i should
get away release me beg him if i could
but i can't get free my heart when his sweet lips bury me
don't u burn my heart E..asy........if you please

his blue eyes, my blue heart
he don't say he loves me , he don't let on that it hurts
and i wonder, what he's thinking
i'm gypsy when he calls me and i hate the way he owns me
but i like the way it feels with his sweetness on the phone
can't u se.e.... it darlin' i don't want to be alone

all along he moves me, should love bring me-- bring me to my knees
mama why am i so needy (#2 crazy) , tell him easy easy please

it's a hard life -- long days to get through
sorry for my cryin', when i find myself without you
i'm a believer, nothing in stone
it ain't right , it's a fight but i want it for my own
still can't get free my heart get it closer to the door
it's ok baby ...

such a long road, it’s a failure getting thru to u
sorry for my cryin', i dont want to be without you
such a dreamer, believing in you
it ain't right , it's a fight i just dont know what to do
I just cant get free my heart..
get it unstuck closer to the door
it's ok someday baby ....no more.....

95

Written By: Mary deQuattro

Burnt eyes, realized, white clouds over 95
My heart’s weathered, I’m filtering the sun
My body’s all done
I’m weary from love
I can’t think on
I’m taking the long way home

What are you doing for me, it feels like nothing
How do you sleep with your heart so dark, blinded by the dance
You can’t keep love, when you never take that much
Betraying what you touch, you’ve taken the long way home

Lone man at the magazine stand, he’s weary by the road
Failed plans and his family’s banned him, he know what you don’t know
He’s worked so hard, still he’s lost his job
His bottle’s all gone
He’s taken the long way home

What are you doing for this- it feels like nothing
What has society build in days, to lust until the end
You can’t build life, when you’re holding on so tight
You men of power and might, You’ve taken the long way home

Don’t call me - I’ll still be here, I’ll still be drivin’
You’ll find me- Miles on my mind, I’m still deciding
What to do, About this life
Seeing her with you
I’m taking the long way home

Two hearts, eyes torn apart. Pistols raging now they won
Dead bodies by eleven o’clock, the new is read and done
We’re all shocked inside
Wondering why
Still, the harm is done
They’ve taken the long way home

What are you doing for this- it feels like nothing
How can this come from a kiss, deceived within the sin
You can’t live peace, when hatred your lease
When jealous hearts believe, You’ve taken the long way home

Don’t call me- .I’ll still be here, I’ll still be drivin’
You’ll find me- Miles on my mind, I’m still deciding
What to do, About this life
Seeing her with you
I’m taking the long way home

Prayer for Oklahoma ( the Bombing)

Written By: Mary deQuattro

I can’t believe it Oklahoma
All this hatred fell on you
In the quiet hush of morning rush
Evil blasted through
Jesus, comfort her, I saw her cry
She was running through the streets
Searching for her child

All the lives hurt, all the children,
Swept up by design
Sleeping angels in the clouds this night
Cradled in his arms
I saw that child
Lying limp in his arms
And I saw that man’s heart
Winding down

Now we look for reasons why
Our hearts will ask we cannot reply
For we have seen this evil now
With the will to kill and eyes that prowl
You think it’s quiet for the Heartland now
The storm has just begun

In the ruins lies the tears it holds,
Touched by hands that worked all night
As I watch my heart is torn apart
I see Oklahoma hold on tight
I saw that child
Trembling in fear
She was bloody burnt and wild
Holding on - to anyone

Holding on to love is best
Helping those who are hurt or lost
For we are living this evil still
With broken hearts and challenged wills
Justice.. Stop this hatred Waco instilled
The beast he will not win

In the minutes and the days to come
And the years they will hurt still
I swear I won’t forget the suffering here
I know they never will
Jesus.. Comfort me
I saw Oklahoma cry
She was searching through the ruins still
Still for more lives
Jesus Comfort her
I saw her cry
She was running through the streets
Searching for her child.

I Would

Written By: Mary deQuattro

I would

if you told me that you loved me and you told me you were thinking of me
if you did if you did
i would I would think of you

If you said you knew your heart would keep on beating
And you said you wait for our next meeting
If you did if you did
i would I would wait there too

I can see my life beside you
All the days and years
If I thought this feeling were inside you
I would feel good good

if you told me you could stand the ways I have
and you said you wait for me to love you back
If you could if you could
I could I could feel like you

I can see my life beside you
All the days and years
If I thought this feeling were inside you
I would feel good I would feel good

Should I think of you….
wasting all my days.
Dreaming of a man
all these times I do
think of you

If you said you often feel me missing
If you said I love you when I was listening
If you would ,
If you would
I would I would say it too

I would
I would

Every Once In A While

Written By: Mary deQuattro

Every once in a while

we love love
where are you
is love there in your heart .. in the deepest part

who are you
what am i
I only wonder why- constant lullaby

are we just believing love is real- all we feel
we find love turns and winds and falls so low we can’t hold onto the memory of

what is life, with just one heart
I see love smile, every once in a while

every night
all my life
wish I might
Find one love I want to dream one ideal time for love for me and for you

we love life when love is new
what time wears away
can we make it stay

are we just believing love is real -all we feel
we find love turns and winds and falls so low we can’t hold onto the memory of

life goes on when lovers part
but I have to know before u go
do u feel love smile every once
Once in a while

One Kiss

Written By: Mary deQuattro

One kiss

When I see your eyes, it looks as if you’ve cried
Then I think oh no, what has happened to you –recently

But then I understand, you need someone’s hand
Some one to hold you –when all the world is crashing

I truly know, what hearts make minds think
You cant let go, living it over again

When I feel like this, I need just one kiss
Two arms that will hold me and set me on my way
Safe to face the day

Then I see the possiblities
I can see the world is waiting patiently for me

If you see me there, u think I don’t care,
You’re wrong I think of you but I cant tell u what to do

But if I thot would, look for something good
Remembering your heart’s the same, as when u first called someone’s name

Though dreams grow old they beat like souls,
You breath they feel
What could be real

Then I see the possiblities
Take a closer look you might just be a lot like me

If I thot u would, and I think you should
Find one heart who’s turning, some one heart that has been yearning
Looking long for you

Find someone who’s looking for ..one kiss
