Bio

Mary Ellis is a powerful modern rock, alternative band that came to fruition in 1995 when four guys got together at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette to shake up the world’s music scene. Writing all original music and touring as often as possible, Mary Ellis made a name for themselves playing music venues and colleges around the state of Louisiana.

In 1999, with a strong southern fan base, the band decided to move on and took their great hooks and raw rock style to a new crowd in the Midwest. The change of scenery was a success: Mary Ellis found themselves playing cities such as Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and lots of towns in-between. Radio stations throughout the Midwest have also treated Mary Ellis well. Commercial and College formats recognized killer rock-n-roll by spinning the single ‘Nancy’ off of their first EP ‘Shallow’, followed by the singles ‘Things'll be Fine’ and ‘Already Won’ off of their second released album ‘Porno Plastic’.

2004 saw the departure of a long time bandmate and lifetime friend, singer Scott Hamburg, and brought in a new singer and previous Ellis producer, Don Hatton. This also added something Mary Ellis has never had before, a second guitar for the live rock show. Don brought in some new blood and previous success with his first project, Silt, which had a single on the ‘Dude, Where’s My Car?’ movie soundtrack. With a new singer, the year also saw fresh airplay with the new singles ‘R U Home’ and the title track ‘Worthless’ from the third project of the same name.

Mary Ellis returned to the studio in November through January of 2005 to begin work on a yet un-named new project of brand new material with Chicago pillar of rock, Andy Gerber (Local H, Cheap Trick, Caviar, Figdish, The Cells, Various soundtracks including Charlie’s Angels and Gone In 60 Seconds…..) at Million Yen studios. ‘Going Solo’ and ‘Lonely Girl’ are the most ground breaking tunes yet from these young rock stars, and it promises to be the ‘year of the bitch’ for these guys!
