Bio

Soulful
artist, Mary Gatchell, is an accomplished pianist, oboist, composer, and
singer. She just released her sixth album, "Real Fantasy", of her own
compositions in the pop/soul genres, produced by Leon Lacey and Nathaniel
Townsley. Born and raised in New Hampshire in a musical family, she gained a
strong foundation in musical theatre, jazz, and classical music.

After
high school, Mary moved to NYC to attend New York University where she earned a
Bachelor of Music degree in Theory and Composition. Mary is the leader of her
own self-titled band, having played at the Blue Note, Knitting Factory, Cutting
Room, Bitter End, CBGB's, Club Groove, Rockwood Music Hall, and her NH hometown
theatre, Leddy Center for the Performing Arts (www.leddycenter.org),
among many others.

As
an oboist, she has played at Carnegie Hall several times and freelances with
orchestras and chamber ensembles in and around NYC, including Leon Lacey's
Freshly Orchestrated. As a singer in various ensembles, she has performed at
Avery Fisher Hall, the Lamb's Theatre, Boston's House of Blues, Symphony Space,
Birdland, and at Brooklyn's Barclays Center and Newark's Prudential Center with
the Rolling Stones for their 50th Anniversary tour with her choir, Ghostlight (www.ghostlightchorus.com). She has
conducted and premiered her own compositions in the United States and Italy,
having written works for orchestra, chamber ensembles, big band, and choir. She
is currently the music director, choir director, and organist at a church in
New Jersey. Mary is also the co-founder and artistic director of Siena Summer
Music, a chamber music festival in Italy (www.sienasummermusic.org).

A
passionate teacher, Mary, in association with the Worldwide Orphans Foundation (www.wwo.org),
has traveled to Ethiopia to implement a sustainable music curriculum for HIV
infected and impoverished children, and to Bulgaria to work with orphans with
special needs through music. Mary Gatchell currently has six albums out with
her own band, including a children's album, called Music with Mary. They are
available at www.marygatchell.com. Don't miss Mary live!
